If I could have only one 357 revolver it would be this one, circa 1986; S&W® 4" 686 (No Dash)..........

My choice would be the 4" M19. I have one and love the trigger so much that I would be hard pressed to switch to a different .357. The "in-between" size makes it perfect for most needs. S&W made a great pistol with the M19, among others.
