If you could only have three guns...

If I could have only three guns I would go with;
1) Bushmaster ACR 10.5'' barrel and the M4-2000 suppressor and a Aimpoint CompM3
2) Les Baer Tactical Bolt Action .308, with a Nikon Monarch 4-16x42
3) Wilson Combat CQB LIGHT-RAIL LIGHTWEIGHT PROFESSIONAL.
I would be set and one day I plan on owning all of the above. Plus 5 others I dont have.

1 any kind of takedown lever action rifle
2 a blackpowder pistol
3 and if there was absolutely no restriction on what kinda gun i could own, then it would be a sten gun

the first just because lever actions are pretty beefy and can tyically take a beating, black powder pistol because the powder, bullets, primers can all be homemade if needed

and the sten gun because it can pretty much be repaired by any licensed plumber :)

Gen 3 Glock 17 (w/ .22LR conversion kit)
Mossberg 500 12g 18.5" (w/ additional 26" barrel)
Any quality com-bloc 7.62x39 AK (w/ fun switch)

Plenty of mags & ammo for all of the above.

Here's my 2 Cents

.40 caliber semiautomatic = mine is a Beretta 90-Two
18" 12 Gauge shotgun = I want a Rem 870 Marine Magnum
All purpose SHTF rifle = I want a Kel-Tec RFB .308

This is an impossible question, I could never own just three!:uhoh:

I suppose if I were forced to pick three from my collection and sell the rest I would choose these three.

HK45C - My favorite .45ACP handgun (yes even over the 1911!)
HK45c-4.jpg

Jim Hoag custom BHP (Couldn't part with this one, just no way!)
BrowningHP-1.jpg

FN SCAR 16s (no need to justify keeping this one!)
SCAR-8.jpg

German Kar98k
Ruger 10/22
S&W Model 66

I love the Kar98k (even though I'm yet to get one), the Ruger is a must, and Model 66 because I feel it's a good all around handgun.

I think I'll revise my earlier post.

Three guns and three guns only

1. 9mm semi-auto with a 3.5" or longer barell that can handle +P loadings. (The round is powerfull enough for two legged predators, ammo is easy to find, and you can carry more than if you had a .45 or .40.)

2. Ruger 10/22 (It is light, the ammunition is easy to find, the ammo is cheap, you can carry a ton, and it will easily take down small game.)

3. British .303 Enfield (The ammo is large and hard to find. However, kill zone shots on animals can be done with the iron sights at 100+ yards. Plus, if properly maintained they will last longer than the owner by multiple generations.)

Glock 19 9mm
Mossberg 500 12GA w/ 18" and 28" interchangeable barrels
Arsenal Inc. AK-47 (SA M-7)

All three are simple, durable & reliable. Ammo is plentiful worldwide for all of them.

And I already own all three :)

If I could only own three, I'd have to assume that I was in some sort of survival scenario, or too poor to buy more and so, I'd want the most reliable 3 I could get my hands on.

In that case, they'd be some sort of pump or single-shot shotgun, preferably in 12 gauge (common), a pump, lever or single-shot 22 and a pistol. For the pistol, my first choice would be for a Ruger revolver or a Glock. They are so reliable and easy to work on. Caliber would be 357/38 and 9mm/40/45 I suppose with the nod going to the Ruger for simplicity's sake (no magazine to keep up with). For the shotgun, I am partial to the Remington 870 in a pump and for the rifle, I really like the Marlin 39 (older, pre-rebounding hammer models).

Can you explain why it's 3 guns, not 2 or 4? I'd toss the shotgun, since it's unnecessary anyway, and you can't carry more than one longarm. You don't say that money is the limiting factor, so what is? If money was the limiting factor, I'd say borrow more, sell some stuff, etc, and get more money, if you lacked enough to buy quality. I'd pick 2, and call it good enough, if it were not for having fun with guns. The 2 are an M4 in 223 and a Keltec PF9 for the pocket. If you need more than a pocket gun, a bigger pistol is unlikely to be the answer, you know. You'll need a rifle, body armor, grenades, and friends. Anything that I can't do with my 2 doesn't really need to be done, it's just a sport or fun issue. The 223 will brain elk, moose or big bears, no problem at all. If I was to buy a 3rd gun, it would be a "practice only" Keltec, so that the ccw gun need not be subjected to fouling and wear.

This is a hard question when encompassing all types of firearms.

* Lee Speed sporter - 303
* Weatherby 'Athena' SxS - 20ga
* S&W M48 'Classic' 4" - 22mag

None of those guns are cheap, but none of them are all that expensive in the long run. While none are world class, they are all fine weapons which will last more than one lifetime; I could be proud of all of them, and do anything I wanted as well.

Since there does not seem to be a survival/SHTF theme, or a budget, just a number limit.........
1 - Perazzi 12 gauge target gun
2 - handgun (TBD) in 9mm or 357
3 - ohn Dickson and Son Round action SxS in 20 gauge

NO black or military stuff

1. AK-103. Legality be damned; it's the finest weapon I've ever had the privellege of learning about and handling.

2. M1911. I know it's cliched, but I seriously just love the feel of the gun and how it operates. I naturally point with it too and the caliber packs a good punch.

3. Xtrema 2. My favorite shotgun, just, my favorite shotgun.

If I could only have 3 guns, I'd have:

Remington 870 12ga
Winchester Model 70 .30-06
Ruger SR9c 9mm

The shotgun and rifle are pretty much necessities for the hunting I do. The Ruger would serve fine for fun on the range (with the extended mag/grip) and concealed carry.

Saw a lot of more exotics reading the list above. Gotta go with my comfy ones though.

Remington 870P 12GA
Remington 700P w/ Leupold Mark IV 6x20 FFP
Sig P229 in .40

That gets me long, short and everything in between
