I've been offered a position with the North Dakota Highway Patrol as a State Trooper! I had applied in both North and South Dakota, and I got a call Friday from the Major in ND telling me that I am in. I've spent the past five years teaching high school mathematics, which I enjoy, but I'm finally realizing a goal which I've had for some time, and now I'm ready for the challenge. Many long talks with my wonderful wife helped cement the decision that this is where we need to be. I just wanted to share the good news!

Well, looks like SD's loss is ND's gain. Congratulations! I am sure you recognize that there will be many frustrations and lonely hours, but we sure do thank you for your willingness to serve.

Hope keep us posted on your training.

Good on ya!

Keep us posted on your training & assignments. Best wishes, and Thanks In Advance for your service.

Where is the applause & deep bow of Appreciation smiley when ya need it ? ? ?

State Troopers.

Congratulations, on your appointment.

All the Iowa state troopers i've had the pleasure to work with can be summed up as professional & dedicated to public service.

Good luck & stay safe.

12-34hom.

Congratulations!!!! I believe that you will enjoy being
a State Trooper 10 times more than being a match
instructor? Looks like putting up with a class full of
"crumb snatcher's" would make one pull their hair
out.

And being based in North Dakota, it will probably be lots
of miles patrolling without ever seeing man-kind. The
scenery should be excellent though; bears, wolves,
moose, caribou, mountain lions, etc. just to name a
few. And housing should be very affordable?

Good Luck and Best Wishes With The New Assignment

Congrats Country Boy!

Ala Dan: I am afraid he won't see many "bears, wolves,
moose, caribou, mountain lions" though. We do get an occasional bear, but they are very rare. If he is stationed in the northern part of the state he will probably see moose, but I don't believe we have any caribou except on game ranches. Wolves are rare, but coyotes are plenty. Mountain lions are also very rare, but there have been occasional reports out west. Hunting opportunities are pretty good for deer, turkey, geese and duck and a few other species.

Ala Dan is right about beautiful scenery though. In all North Dakota is a nice place to be.

Whew. When I first saw the subject, I thought for a moment that you were joining the Negligent Discharge Highway Patrol. :uhoh: Glad that got cleared up.

Oh, and congrats! :D

Congratulations! I sincerely hope that the job turns out to be BETTER than you thought it was going to be! Keep in touch and let us know what’s going on.
