wait, price not an option? or out of the ones we own?

M1 or 1903 if price doesnt matter
enfield or nagant if it does

I thought about posting price.. but the real expense is buying something that isn't quite good enough, then buying another one, and another...

So price no object. If you could keep it to one rifle, one caliber, one set of tools etc. to rule them all, that would end up being cheapest. (It would also be the first time it ever happened, but we're dealing in theory here).

Finest made mauser, ever!

Swedes are darned accurate, easy to shoot well, and usually in better shape than most other milsurps tend to be.

My one and only Milsurp (well actually I have 2 but they're both M96's) would be of course the Swedish M96 Mauser in 6.5x55.

Since you don't have that option on the list I voted for the M38 which would be a close second. ;)

SKS variants are reliable, rugged, cheap, use inexpensive and commonly available ammo, and are lighter or more compact than many of the guns on the list

there are so many surplus rifles and makes to be had.Ultimately I had to vote Garand ,though theM1903a3 I love almost as much.

A generous mention for the 8mm Persian Mauser its so exotic and truely incredible craftmanship.

A big nod for the M1917 also.

quote;Wow, two for the M96 already. Why over the M38? Sight radius? Less blast?

the M96 and the carbine are another Mauser made with awesome craftmanship. The cartridge is awesome also.

the match of rifle and cartridge is like bread and butter.

I own a few of those and despite the fact that I don't own a Garand.. it's still my top pick.

Semi-auto, nice cartridge, solid construction, accurate, not too heavy, helped win a war for us.

It price was a consideration, I might lean more towards an SKS. But it's not even on the list, so I don't think anyone cares lol.

Garand is my final answer.

Don't see my option: Enfield Ishapore 2A.

Would like a Garand as well, though.

Choosing out of what I have, Enfield No4Mk1*. Choosing out of any milsurp, (WWII vintage), it would be an MP44. If I could afford that, I could afford a ton of handload ammo to keep it running!:neener:
