I'm surprised you did'nt list the German 98K. That's the one I would keep. It's the standard by which all other bolt-action milsurps are judged.

No experience (have handled an 1888 and it was pretty crude). I guess I've never even seen one in good condition (the recent imports are all captures IIRC).

Of course according to other posters, the "standard" is the:
Swede
Enfield
03A3

etc. (Maybe I should have specified that only people who had every milsurp could vote in the poll... that would still leave half of you enfranchised!)

Wait until you shoot the God almighty M1 Garand! It is the authority and big dog in the house. It has nostalgia crawling all over it any day of the week and the WWII and Korean war vet always stop on by wanting to tell you about the ones that they used fifty, sixty years ago. I always keep a spare bandoleer for them to shoot and get em to let her rip. It's very well balanced when firing standing up and I can hit clay pidgeon when I get lucky at 100 yards.

i voted mosin m38 since it's the big brother to my m44 that say some nice pumpkin action at the range today:D Did I not see mauser? If I missed it too bad, but I prefer my yugoslavian 24/47 to anything up there, he was my first.;)

The pumpkin stood it's ground for about 30 rounds and two bayonettings (why bend over to prop it back up?) But it fell and was shot into submission by the time 50 rounds were fired.

Am I the only wierdo that never carves his pumpkin by halloween and then takes it to the range to carve instead? I mean two years running now.

I choose the K-31 just because it's between that and my Mosin Nagant 91/30. As of right now I only own two milsurps.

It doesn't include the Swiss M1911 in all its glory so out the list I would have to say Lee Enfield. Its one helluva battle rifle. Fast, accurate, can be quiet when compared to most the others, has a decent size magazine and nigh unbreakable. Even better if you can find one thats been converted to 7.62mm nato in the No9 design.

From the list I would have to go with the Garand. But there is also the 98k to consider.

1903 or 1903A1---all milled parts and great wood-to-metal fit. 1903A3s have mass-produced stamped metal parts with mediocre wood-to-metal fit.
