It's for THE CHILDREN...!

However, having mention children's safety multiple times, the drama queen picks up the revolver in a stupid, unsafe manner. Kids - don't do this!

I'm not saying the seller doesn't have any fault, but generally in yard sales where generally all purchases are final, the buyer should, uhh, actually check out what they're buying. Ya know, not everything is some other person's responsibility.

I know of people like this. You stay away from them as much as possible.

If a person has not been raised around guns, or handled guns, and has only been exposed to information about guns in popular culture--where they are tools of destruction--or in news reports of violence, it seems to me that it is RATIONAL to fear them.

Try walking a mile in another's shoes before you judge, please.

I think there is a lot more to this story than we're seeing.

We have an utterly bizzare response, coupled with media coverage, coupled with a distinct lack of police ... sounds fishy.

She's, helpless, ugly, and therefore a liberal.
Huh ?

OK, that was unfair of me.

She's blubbering like she just witnessed the south-tower collapse, so I assumed she's helpless.

(deleted)

...And to be more precise, she's a liberal because she thinks everyone else is so stupid that they won't notice the obviously-staged "horror" of her fishing a revolver out of the bag with a pen as if she's removed the "loaded" gun (how'd they know?) for the first time.

How's that?

WOW !

And thats top news ??

What tragedy will happen next ? Someone will find a pointy sissors at one of these evil garage sales, and we all know how dangerous they can be. (don't run !) I say we should shut down these type sales for the good of the public.

You still can't fix stupid or the media - did I just repeat myself ?

I was thinking perhaps it was a model 36, but only because I really want one.

I was sobbing when I saw that video too... I should have been at that yard sale on Kentucky Avenue!

Lady: OMG it almost killed me.

Guy who knows anything about firearms: *rolls eyes*

I can see how it might be a bit disconcerting but if you want to keep it away from "the children," don't say anything about it and lock it in the car until the police arrive. Or take the computer case into a gun store and ask one of the employees for help.
This isn't rocket science people.

First thing I thought was, "Who buys a laptop bag from a garbage sale without LOOKING inside it first..........

doesnt smell right to me

dollar to donuts she has something against the Christian Life Center................course its not like the news crew will ever look into THAT side ofthe "story"

NUSHIF - "I think there is a lot more to this story than we're seeing."

So do I. Phony crying, a teeeveee camera and reporter called to conveniently be there, and the two pap dispensing teeeveee chicks ohhh-soooo-seriously reporting it as if there'd been a mass shooting at the local deli ....

Nah, it doesn't pass the smell test.

What over the top histrionics. Atleast the older lady was reasonably calm.
Who would expect to find a revolver in a computer case?
Looked like a nice S&W revolver, too.

You guys are clearly missing the point here.

WE NEED TO OUTLAW GARAGE SALES!!!!

They are obviously full of dangerous guns just waiting to hurt people... Lurking inside innocent looking laptop cases, how dare they! If we outlaw garage sales then we can finally be safe.

About six months ago my son found a gun in a long abandoned campsite. I didn't know I should call the news.

Ya'll should have let me know, oh well to late now.....guess i'll just never get my 5 minutes of fame:(

I don't understand why this is news worthy. Is it the actual gun used to kill jfk from the grassy knoll?

I really can't understand folks most times.

Why are the Kardashians on TV? There's no real answer to these questions, they simply are.

Was that a Mdl 10 or 15 Smith w/a Tyler T-grip ? (Unlimited mutterings and cursings.....

Looks to me like a Model 36. It was the special edition random terminator model so I understand her fear. Even looking at that thing wrong would cause it to shoot everyone in the room.

A lot of people here are being flippant about this, but a loaded gun at a garage sale IS a hazard. Think about it - random kids, many of whom have parents who don't want to tell them guns exist (so they have no idea what to do when they see a real one), might find it in the bag. I'm not an anti, but it is irresponsible to have one loaded and unattended in a bag at a garage sale that nobody knows about. I'm not promoting a policy change or anything, but if this story is true, then there's one knucklehead out there that needs to pay attention.

I don't think a lot of people are being flippant about the situation but rather, her reaction and or highlighting the difference in reaction a "gun person" would have had. I have seen people less torn up on the news about a tornado ripping their house off of the foundation.

Ya, I'd definitely be thinking "score!"

If she were smart, she'd have taken this unwated gun and ended up being paid $150 or $200 for her purchase. But she's obviously missing more than a few megabytes in her CPU.

She says she hopes sellers will be more careful, and that bargain hunters will take a second look before they buy

Ya think? Who doesn't look inside a used bag before they buy it? Especially a 12 ounce laptop bag that is weighing in at 2 pounds.

This woman needs to quit wasting our oxygen.
