I went garage sale shopping with my wife this morning and picked up a marlin 45/70 rifle with a 22" barrel and 2/3 mag tube. The gun has been abused surface rust and dings on the metal. Wood is dinged and dented. The action worked and the inside barrel was ok. I got it cheap. After bring it home and cleaning it up , I am happy with it.
What your ideas about shooting 45 Long Colt and .410 shotshells in it. I fire 44 mags in my .444 Marlin with good results.

Do the gun a favor and sell it to someone who won't abuse it as you are your 444

As you can see from the pics theres .014 thousands worth of UNSUPPORTED case at the critical area just above the case head! The part of the case that prevents several thousand PSI worth of superheated gas from blasting into your face and eyes.

according the COTW, you can fire .410 shotgun shells in the .45/70. why you would want to is another story.
