Glad it is doing well for you, and you still have another day to put the dime on an official target. ;)

Nothing like the last minute!

Let's see if I can post these targets for May...

More targets

Had fun today. Big storm blew in, so had the range to myself for a while. Then the rain and wind died down and a few people showed up... along with the mosquitoes!

Finally...

Okay - so here's the last one!

Sure had fun shooting and glad we're outside again and shooting 25 / 50 yards!

Old eyes and rust notwithstanding, this stuff keeps one young! Nothing much to say except that these matches are helping me get off the bench and do "real" shooting.

Will comment that I like the targets - because I could see them! Not a problem with magnification, but sometimes I just can't see the non-mag targets selected. As long as they're about the size they were for May, they work for me... maybe others in the same boat so thought I'd mention it.

Thanks to all who played and thank you Mav for another outstanding evolution!!

I too think it would be a good idea to keep larger targets for the iron sights matches

I agree, Orlando picked some good ones this month.

Thank you all for shooting and keep those targets coming!

Speaking of which, I was hoping to get out and shoot a bit today, but it has been raining non-stop today, and most of the weekend, so it doesn't look good for this afternoon. My last outing didn't produce that great of results, but i'll be posting a couple of the best ones later this afternoon if the rains keeps a comin'...or I don't do any better. Seems that three shots keep going in the same hole, and the last two go where they want to. The old lt. contour factory bbl just ain't cuttin' it, so it looks like I am going to have to re-barrel the 10/22 again (sold the old .17HM2 bbl to get back to .22LR). I am thinking a Tactical Solutions fluted heavy bbl to keep it lightweight and accurate.

:)

As predicted, the rain kept on coming, so here is the best I could muster this month:

Shot with my 10/22, rested on elbows, scope set at 10X, Federal Auto Match ammo. Should qualify for the sporting rifle class...but hopefully that will soon change. Please feel free to comment if you think I miss-scored the target.

:)

Thank you all for participating, hope to see you all this month in the...June match. Speaking of which, it is up and running. Please check it out and let me know if you have any suggestions. We need targets!

:)

Looks good to me Mav! Great shooting! Good luck on that new bbl. As expected I couldn't shoot yesterday. We didn't go fishing either. It was raining all day here too! I ended up working all day on the new stock for my Weatherby Vanguard .234. I got all of the sanding finished up and have applied the first 3 coats of Spar Urethane high gloss on it. It is really coming along nicely too.

Just for giggles, I added that target of 10 shots @ 50yds. I shot this resting on elbows on the hood of my truck. Like I said, I have never shot this good even from a bench. I do have one question... What is it about every group that there has to be that one that just won't stay with the rest of the group?

Mikey!

Thanks Mikey; bummer on the fishing/range trip, but there are worse ways to spend an evening, than working on a nice hunk of walnut. ;)

I think it is God's way to punish us for terrorizing our parents when we were kids...that's my theory anyway. :p Seriously, it tends to be the first shot (fouling shot) or the final one as you get a bit lazy (we all do it). Still a very nice group; well done, Mikey.

:)

I wish it was walnut, but it is a laminate in black and gray. It is one of those "Tack Driver" styled stocks from Richard's Microfit. It is turning out very nice. It is quite heavy though, but I can tell you this: I can hold it very steady while in a sitting position for days, as the center point of it is right under the recoil lug screw. With my arm at my side and bent straight back up to the recoil lug, and my other hand grasping the contoured grip, it is very comfortable. I think I will be able to do some very good shooting and varmint hunting with it.

It has always been a shooter, but I like a custom stock. The factory target measured .28" center to center for 3 shots at 100 yards, and with my handloads I have gotten it down to .310" at 100 Yds with me behind the wheel. I just need to work on my 200 and 300 yard shooting with it. I think my accuracy at the longer ranges is limited by my eyesight, but the best I have been able to do is about 3" at 200 and 5" at 300. Maybe a better scope is in order.

Mikey!

Could be any number of things (some bullets/loads are better at certain ranges IME), but good glass is always in order IMO. I think Sightron (any of em') and Vortex (Diamondback and Viper) are the best deals going right now. I plan to plop a Sightron S-II on a Savage 93R17TRR in the not so distant future...yeah, i'll be spending near the value of the rifle on glass...but yeah, i'll be able to see my little .17cal holes too. :D

Yeah, I know about spending more for good glass. Before taking up shooting as a hobby, my hobby was astronomy. I have more telescopes than I have rifles, but it is getting closer to even the longer I am shooting. The key to astronomy was also... Good Glass!

I am not sure what I am going to eventually put on my .243 but I am doing much better at 200 and 300 with my .300 Win Mag since I put on my Nikon ProStaff with the bullet drop reticle.

Mikey!
