Michigan CCW???

Does anyone know how long its taking to recieve CCW permits once all of the paper work is completed at the county clerks office and sherriffs dept?

I have heard 2 months and I also have heard 6 months.........

Depends on the county. In Oakland County, I waited about 3 months. But, that was early immediately after the law changed. I suspect that Wayne County is still the worst. Also, each county tends to set their own rules (illegal, of course). Some counties make you get signed letters from doctors stateing you are mentally competent. Doctors don't like to sign these as they fear it adds some liability. Oakland was easy - just took longer than anticipated.

three of us at work have gotten our CCW's this year. all of ours took ~3 months. two guys in Oakland county, and one in Macomb.

If the fingerprints don't have to be taken over, it should only take 2-3 months.
It seems like it always takes a little longer than expected for some reason.

What County do you live in?

When I got my CCW, Barry County was a two month wait.

Applied in April 8th of this year and got it in August 27th- Mountcalm county.

Took me six months in Wayne County. that was when the law first went into effect. Got it ni FEb 2002.

In Mason county it took me about three weeks. A couple of guys I work with just received theirs and it took about 2 months. The reason they were given was that the fingerprint checks were running behind. :

In Wayne, I've heard 6-9 months. A friend in Oakland had to wait 2 months.

I'm in Macomb & have been told by the sherrif's dept that ysually the big delay is the FBI fingerprint check.
