Most .22LR I've seen in one place since 2010....$$$

13 cents/round.....they can keep it!

I can shoot my 9mm reloads for 12 cents/round, lol.

I just found some on Sportsmansguide.com for 9 cents/round, still high, but I need it, so I bought 500 rounds.

Just checked AmmoSeek for 22 LR, and see a lot of it in the 7-10 cent per round range (most from 8 cents and up per round with no stated limits). That would be about $35-50 for a 500-round brick. For most places on that site shipping adds about a penny a round to the price. YMMV.

A friend bought 1,200 rounds of CCI 'Choot'm' mini-mags at Walmart yesterday!!

Don't know what the price was, but they had a 4 box limit.

And those come in 300 round boxes!!

Cabela's is one of the most overpriced firearms retailers I have ever seen.

FYI, just before Christmas, a Cabela's salesman was nice enough to tell me that if you ever sell/trade a firearm there, they will give you 40% of its re-sale worth.

i.e. a used Winchester 30/30 with a $600 price tag, Cabela's gave the previous owner $240 for it.

If you find something on sale, or have Cabela's bucks, then the deals get better. And I did just buy my Buckmark there, but only after shopping around to see that their price was close to other dealers or online.

But often they are the most expensive game in town for ammo and firearms, in my experience.

Yes, but quite often, they are the only game in town also, after they have run all the small dealers out of business!!

Got that way here in Lawrence after they opened the big store in KCK 27 miles down the interstate.

When looking at the picture and saying "No Thanks" to the price tag on the Norma keep in mind that the Norma USA is a high performance Target Grade 22 LR selling at $64.99 a 500 round brick. Midway is the same price of $64.99, Brownells runs about $59.99 and with Midway and Brownells add the S&H. Anyway, while not in the Eley class the stuff is supposed to be quality target ammunition. I have a brick and have yet to try any of the stuff yet so can't say how well it shoots for me.

When Cabela's (Columbus, Ohio) has the lower priced stuff like Remington Thunderbolts or similar 22 LR it runs much cheaper and also sells out much faster. :) I have been seeing plenty of the more expensive target and match 22 LR out there but it is not quite inexpensive.

So when shopping for 22 LR I don't think we can just say 5 cents or 8 cents or 10 cents a round without defining what the round is? The Norma USA Tac 22 at .13 cents a round seems to be pretty common and the stuff is touted as quality target ammunition. Remington Eley Match typically sells for about $159.99 for a 500 round brick and that is about 32 cents a round or $15.99 for a 50 round box. So cost per round really means very little unless we can tie the cost per round to a brand.

Norma shoots close to Wolf MT and SK Standard+ in my rifles. It is a big step up from CCI SV. $65 is too steep. It can be easily found online for $55.

Not always. I have witnessed the Columbus, Ohio store make offers based on 60% of what they feel they can sell the gun for in the gun library. So on a good day they stand to make 40% but I have seen that come down. Over the Holidays we were down in Columbus, Ohio visiting family. These trips down from Cleveland include the mandatory Cabela's stop. I have scored a few guns there and on some they have room to bargain, I always ask if there is any room on a gun I might have an interest in, sometimes they will drop a price. Once the gun library price is established we move to the paper work (44730 and the register). At this point Cabea's will spot veterans an additional 5%. Ohio veterans have the option of having veteran status on their drivers license. That is another 5% and on a recent purchase my wife had a $20 off anything over $100 so all in all we did fairly well. We also use the Cabela's Signature Black Visa for everything we buy so we stash Cabela's bucks. So for us? It works but I can understand how for many it may not be the best way to go.

If you bought it at 100 a brick, better sit on it till its worth that again.
The only guns I trade at cabelas are the ones that I wouldnt sell a friend. I.E . something that shoots 2-3" groups. That way I dont feel bad when they only give 50%. One time I had a stock cut down to about 12.5" LOP, then decided to get rid of it. Cabelas wouldnt take it, said it was ruined. Even though the metal was perfect. Then I said OK I will still take the shotgun I had come in to buy. They said OK. Then I wrote the check and the guy says, hey, if this check isnt any good tell me now I wont even run it through the computer. So they basically told me my trade was worthless, then, treated me like I was worthless.

Online for $55.
Plus how much shipping to get it to your door??

rc
OK, using Midway when all is said and done my $64.99 in merchandise becomes $79.00 with S&H to get it to my door. I have also noticed that those with the lower product cost seem to have higher S&H charges so go figure.

A bit more than I would like to pay but it IS a better quality than the cheapo blasting stuff sold at WM.;) Around 10% more there than other sources (on line) but no shipping if you buy it there, so there is that savings as well.:p It does shoot just about as well as SK and Wolf Match in my souped up Ruger MK II. If I needed some and was there when it was available I would get some of it.

Now I feel much better about not having SEEN ANY rimfire ammo where I live for the last four years because at those prices - they can keep it all. That's ridiculous - I don't care who made it or what they market it as. All of my rimfire guns are going to be wall hangers.

I like the fact that the rack looks like it is about to collapse........really professional looking, isn't it? Just imagine how much fun it will be to clean up all those rounds after they break open onto the floor. Anyone got any idea what the little white ribbons are all about?

That's interesting. I haven't tried it myself. Makes me want to pick up a brick and try out. I think the price is a bit high, but if Cabelas has it in stock, I can walk in and walk out with the ammo locally without the shipping hassle.

The white ribbons are either Christmas bows (IE: already gift wrapped!!)

Or tie strings for putting around the plastic bags they sell the shells in after the shelf gives way??

I go to that store a lot for caps and to hopefully fondle some nice muzzleloading guns. It is a very nice store, but overpriced, unless something is on sale in which you can save hundreds on a black powder gun of high quality ala Davide Pedersoli.

Those wooden boxes are 500 ct winchester super x at $40. That's a good deal.
My local store has it most days, but still limits purchases to 500rds. I wish we could grab 1200!
