Norma shoots close to Wolf MT and SK Standard+ in my rifles. It is a big step up from CCI SV. $65 is too steep. It can be easily found online for $55.When looking at the picture and saying "No Thanks" to the price tag on the Norma keep in mind that the Norma USA is a high performance Target Grade 22 LR selling at $64.99 a 500 round brick. Midway is the same price of $64.99, Brownells runs about $59.99 and with Midway and Brownells add the S&H. Anyway, while not in the Eley class the stuff is supposed to be quality target ammunition. I have a brick and have yet to try any of the stuff yet so can't say how well it shoots for me.
When Cabela's (Columbus, Ohio) has the lower priced stuff like Remington Thunderbolts or similar 22 LR it runs much cheaper and also sells out much faster. I have been seeing plenty of the more expensive target and match 22 LR out there but it is not quite inexpensive.
So when shopping for 22 LR I don't think we can just say 5 cents or 8 cents or 10 cents a round without defining what the round is? The Norma USA Tac 22 at .13 cents a round seems to be pretty common and the stuff is touted as quality target ammunition. Remington Eley Match typically sells for about $159.99 for a 500 round brick and that is about 32 cents a round or $15.99 for a 50 round box. So cost per round really means very little unless we can tie the cost per round to a brand.

Not always. I have witnessed the Columbus, Ohio store make offers based on 60% of what they feel they can sell the gun for in the gun library. So on a good day they stand to make 40% but I have seen that come down. Over the Holidays we were down in Columbus, Ohio visiting family. These trips down from Cleveland include the mandatory Cabela's stop. I have scored a few guns there and on some they have room to bargain, I always ask if there is any room on a gun I might have an interest in, sometimes they will drop a price. Once the gun library price is established we move to the paper work (44730 and the register). At this point Cabea's will spot veterans an additional 5%. Ohio veterans have the option of having veteran status on their drivers license. That is another 5% and on a recent purchase my wife had a $20 off anything over $100 so all in all we did fairly well. We also use the Cabela's Signature Black Visa for everything we buy so we stash Cabela's bucks. So for us? It works but I can understand how for many it may not be the best way to go.Cabela's is one of the most overpriced firearms retailers I have ever seen.
FYI, just before Christmas, a Cabela's salesman was nice enough to tell me that if you ever sell/trade a firearm there, they will give you 40% of its re-sale worth.
i.e. a used Winchester 30/30 with a $600 price tag, Cabela's gave the previous owner $240 for it.
If you find something on sale, or have Cabela's bucks, then the deals get better. And I did just buy my Buckmark there, but only after shopping around to see that their price was close to other dealers or online.
But often they are the most expensive game in town for ammo and firearms, in my experience.
OK, using Midway when all is said and done my $64.99 in merchandise becomes $79.00 with S&H to get it to my door. I have also noticed that those with the lower product cost seem to have higher S&H charges so go figure.Online for $55.
Plus how much shipping to get it to your door??

I go to that store a lot for caps and to hopefully fondle some nice muzzleloading guns. It is a very nice store, but overpriced, unless something is on sale in which you can save hundreds on a black powder gun of high quality ala Davide Pedersoli.Yes, but quite often, they are the only game in town also, after they have run all the small dealers out of business!!
Got that way here in Lawrence after they opened the big store in KCK 27 miles down the interstate.

Those wooden boxes are 500 ct winchester super x at $40. That's a good deal.
