October Rimfire Match:

For that front sight, once you get it centered up properly, I'd use red loctite and lock it down permanently unless you might have a need to remove it at a later date, and then I'd use blue.

It isn't normally that bad with a rimfire, but I had a Russian Mosin M44 that was loose and it's a good thing I caught it before it fell out or it might have been impossible to replace - :cuss: The groups were strung out horizontally (windage all over the place) until I figured it out and put the red loctite on it. (Got rid of it shortly thereafter).

Eye doc said something about having to avoid shocks for about a week or a bit more after the surgery, so maybe rimfire shooting will be okay. I'll ask him today when I go back in for the consult with the opthalmic surgeon.

Never fear Maverick, as the former "governator" said, "I'll be baaack"

Which Lock-tite do I want?
Personally I favor blue Loc-Tite for securing gun related bits, but if you are absolutely sure that you won't want to swap it at a latter date red would be a veritable guarantee that you won't be able to (at least without the aid of a torch).

Even if he says rimfire is out of the question, you can always shoot some Colibris (I prefer the "Super" variety) as there is less shock/recoil than an airgun. I would call accuracy fair, and the modest power and rainbow trajectory is a given, but they are a blast to shoot (I like 'em so much that I have a rifle that is dedicated to shooting Super Colibris).

:)

Here it is. If I understand the scoring, it's a measly 25 pts. I'll come back & update with details.
Class: Sporting/Iron Sights
Caliber: .22LR
Rifle: Ruger 10/22, Tech-Sights
Ammunition: I forgot. Seriously. Finished off the box
Position: seated at bench
Rest: Mk 1 elbows
Environment: Indoors
Target order of fire: C, D, A, B, I think
Scores: C-4, D-4, A-9 B-8, 25

Next month, I'll figure out how to do the thumbnail thing.

I hope all goes well with the surgury. That is scary stuff. That is one of my biggest fears because I only have sight in one eye.

I am all screwed up :) I used a Sporting Magnified Rifle on a rest so what class does this fit into and of course what's the score I believe it to be 83?
Based on
In a nutshell:

5 pts. - the center bull, cleanly, not breaking/touching any portion of the boundary line
4 pts. - the center bull, breaking the boundary line.
3 pts. - the next ring out from the bull
2 pts. - and so on,
1 pt. - and so forth.

I think I came up with 83 for the first target Mr.Revolverguy and its hard to tell but looks like 86 for the second ,but I confuse easily also :)

No to bad for a 50 year old rifle and 30 year old rifle.

It seems the hotter the barrel got on the Remington the better it shot.

As Orlando suggested that puts you in the Target Class. By my count your second target clocks in at 87 or better (could very well be 88 depending upon the location of the round near/touching the ring on "Target B"). The first one looks like an 84 to me.

:)

Quick question on scoring, if you touch a higher score ring, but not completely break it, does it count as the higher or lower number? Also, for the bonus point on the inner bull, is it that the shot can't touch the ring or that it can't fully break the ring? I'm about to head out and I was trying to get a good idea of what my targets will score to know if I should keep shooting or not.

It has to fully break the ring for the higher point value, but just touching the ring is enough to DQ for the bonus point.

:)

Shot this one last week in the rain, scored it after the target dried out. If my math is right I beat my previous best by 1 point.

Setup same as last time, CMMG dedicated 22LR upper, Federal 550 Value Pack from Walmart :D, and hasty sling in the prone unsupported.

Plan on getting back out there this afternoon to try a few more. BTW, did THR start running out of HD space on their server? It looks like it's limiting image uploads to 800x600 now.

Don't know, but it might just be the size on disk (rather than physical size) limiting it, in which case cropping would help a bit. I mostly stick to Photobucket for image uploads unless I have to attach something (typically a target that is in PDF format), as it makes things quite a bit simpler (particularly when you try to attach a duplicate image, which THR explicitly forbids).

:)

Well, here are my attempts at it this month. Windy as sin. New front rest and bags. New brick of ammo, uhh anything else I can toss in there? Actually, they were better than I had expected. I need a new stock for the 40x. Thought a Boyds would cut it but it rolls around in the front bag so much. Lesson learned. Wouldn't mind a wider stock or stock adapter for the 82G either. It's a bit better than the boyds stock, but I'm sure it would benefit from a 3" wide spacer hooked to the bottom rail. Both rifles shot from a rest, both with scopes. Click images for bigger pictures. Camera turned the images, targets were shot top up. Any vertical here would actually be horizontal. Ammo was Wolf. Had a couple brain farts with the new rest that account for a couple "fliers" as well as changing elevation mid target. Opened what would be some real nice groups up a bit in effort to not fall out of the center bull. When I did everything right with the bags/rest both held impressive vertical. The horizontal was a bit of a guess as it was very gusty, no flags, and I have little experience shooting for group in any wind.

First target with the 40X

Second target with the 40X

First target with the 82G (range was muddy, I dropped the stapler, and got mud on the target when I went to staple it)

Second target with the 82G

I would score them as either a 96 or 97 for the first 40x target, 92 for the second 40x target, 95 for the first 82G target, and 99 for the second 82G target.

If I got the scoring correct. 92 ??

Target class prone off a bipod at 50yards.
Savage MKII 22LR
SK Target
Wind switchy from 3 to 12 to 9 o'clock, very breezy 5-10 mph with some higher gusts.

Haven't been in for a while, hope all's well. I had some fun doing this match!

I think this one's about an 84.
Shot this prone, sling only, at 50 yds with the 54 Ans,15X.
I had some swirling wind out there today too, but my prone targets don't look any better when it's calm.
Hope to improve on this score before the month's over.

Really nice shooting caddisflied!

I tried a couple this afternoon; CMMG 22LR upper, irons, sling, prone unsupported. Best I managed was a 70, if my scoring is correct that is.

Huh, it's automatically sizing my attachments down to 800x600. The upload option has that specified for as the max for *.jpg files.

So heres my feeble attempt and proof I need more practice!

I guess I would be in the iron sight/sporter
Bone Stock Ruger 10/22
Ammo- Remington bulk pack .22lr
Shot indoors at 25yrds

I scored it as a 68, is this correct? The scoring is a little confusing
