Oil bottles/cans : what do you use ?

Considering I don't need or use gun oil in gallon lots, I will stick with the real thing, which I know is good, won't harm the gun, and won't suddenly gum up.
Perhaps ATF is a good oil, but honestly Motor Oil, WD-40, and 3-in-one-oil?

No disrespect intended, but why would you think that motor oil would not work? Motor oil is manufactured to rigid specifications. Gun oil is not - you are relying on the reputation of the company that is marketing it.

Actually, I would put gun oil in the same category as WD and 3-in-one. Not one is made to a published specification.

So I don't look like a hypocrite, I do use Ezzox for rust prevention.

I use a can that I found in the woods among some old apple trees.
There was a rusty stack of odd looking tin nearby, but I just grabbed the can and hit the yellow brick road again.

Seriously, I use oil bottles.

A few years ago I came across some small plastic bottles, with a cap that you twist to open. Some glues came in containers like this, as well as a small one ounce size that used to come in army M16 cleaning kits. I bought a few at a gunshow one time.

I started to fill these bottles with my regular oils, solvents, and bore cleaners. To use them, I just twist it open a bit, squeeze a few drops on the patch, and clean the gun. They work great I think, I never work from a full solvent bottle or awkward container anymore at all. Check out the link, and try something similar. For me they really worked out well.

I just had to label them with tape so I didn't forget what solvent was in each tube.
