Thank you very much. I wish I could take credit for the stock work and the refinishing, but it was a good friend of mine that did it. The rifle fits me perfectly, and it's got character. You should see the grain up close, that and the "stains" in the wood really tell a story.

I swear the stock used to be a railroad tie, but it turned out very nice for what we had to work with.

That's a nice utilitarian looking lever gun, Abel. I bet it's taken it's share of deer too!

Thanks! It has a Williams peep sight on it. Its chambered in 30-30 & I also have a regular model 336 in 35 Rem. w/ a 4x scope. I'm not sure how many deer the 30TK has taken; I bought it used back in April. I'm hoping to blood her soon. My main deer rifle up until now has been an old Remington 788 Carbine in 308, which has taken a pile of deer. I just figured I'd change it up some.

I bet you're loving that Williams peep sight. I'm planning on getting a set of tech sights for the SKS, just having the increased sight radius should help a lot.
I have a receiver cover/scope mount with set screws (so it won't go anywhere during recoil) that works VERY well, but I don't have a decent 1" scope (that is short enough to clear the ejecting brass, or load the rifle) so I don't use it.

I've been unable to shoot the SKS yet, but I have plans for Friday, and I'll be posting a range report for that along with my new AR and my RIA Tactical CS.

My go to deer rifle, a Weatherby Vanguard in .243 Win. Just bedded the action and have to sight it in for the season.

I make a habit of shooting more than once no matter what the cartridge if I can.

I shot him and he jumped what had to be 6' straight up in the air, as soon as his feet hit the ground I shot him again and he did a faceplant into a cold cold creek stone dead.

that stock doesnt look like it came with that gun, why didnt you get a bell and carlson or somthing?
Because I didn't want to drop $200+ on a stock when I don't have the extra change. This one works fine, it's light, comfortable, and still keeps 1.5" 5 shot groups at 200 yards.

Little old but really gets the job done. Original Sharps "A" with 24" half octagon/half round barrel in 40-70 Sharps BN cartridge. Not too big, not too small, just right to drop them bucks where they're a standing.

Please pardon the dings in the stock, shes over 130 years old. This one was originally sold by J. P. Lower of Denver back around late 1870 early 1880.
