scenario

You're seated on this train car as either a single person or a married person with or without children, when 50-60 juveniles enter and start robbing/beating people. You are armed with your regular CCW (its not necessarily California, for the purposes of the scenario). Please list the scenario as it applies to you.

Part of developing strategies and tactics is placing oneself in a scenario and making the decision in advance. Please play out some alternative scenarios, and discuss the best options.

For me: I typically carry a .357 magnum revolver with 12 extra rounds for reloads. I am married with no children, and my wife does not carry.

Option A: comply and hope that we don't get hurt.
Option B: draw and start shooting.
Option C: attempt hand to hand
Option D: run and hope my wife can keep up
Option E: run, and try to cover my wife's retreat
Option F: brandish and see if they will run, if not, start firing at my attackers.

I don't think there is a good option here. What are other alternatives and what would you do?

New IDEA! I would just open my small guitar case that has my Yugo AK underfolder and use it to deal with the nutjob/mob with precision fire.

Simple no?

I didn't read the other responses, but here's my take:

Option A: comply and hope that we don't get hurt. -- Probably not advisable, as it sounds like you'll soon be disarmed yourself with this approach.
Option B: draw and start shooting. -- Probably not advisable, as it may not be fully necessary, and could needlessly jeopardize the lives of others on the train.
Option C: attempt hand to hand -- This sounds insane. Fighting 50-60 people in hand to hand combat? No thanks.
Option D: run and hope my wife can keep up -- Mine can outrun me, and she also carries a gun. We're in it together. Nevertheless, getting out of the situation when CCW'ing is always the best bet... if you can get away, do it in this situation.
Option E: run, and try to cover my wife's retreat -- If the life of my family members is at stake, there's no length I won't go to in an effort to protect them. But, again, refer to my last statement... if you can get out, do so.
Option F: brandish and see if they will run, if not, start firing at my attackers. -- If you can't run, and can't hide, and can't submit (due to them getting your gun), then preparing to fight is perhaps the only option you have left. If you draw on a crowd of 50-60 attackers, I doubt the presence of a gun alone will deter them. You'll almost certainly end up shooting. And, you may end up having to shoot multiple people.

Reality? This is an unlikely but possible scenario. It's a very tough scenario from which to win. But, if you're in it you'll just have to make a judgment call based on what you're seeing and experiencing.
