Sometimes, you never know that you got made!!
I have had some poor experiences this summer, concerning dating new girls and discovering their opinions on guns. I'd say that only 1 in 10 is "gun friendly", and the large majority would have likely demanded that I immediately let them out of the car if they knew I was carrying. Eh, it's their loss. On to my most recent experience....
I had been dating this new girl for only a couple weeks. We had not talked about guns at all, and I was selective on where I would carry with her, to avoid bringing the topic up too soon or letting her discover it at the wrong time. I was carrying on our trip to the supermarket one day, and I was a little nervous that she would start to question the hard thing that she keeps bumping on my waist. On that trip, I told her that I wanted to bring her to the range to go shooting. She said, "Sure". I said "you aren't afraid of guns, are you?", and she replied "No". My first thought was "nice" However, that does not mean that she can handle a guy who carries a gun with him every day. Some girls have told me they are fine with guns, until I mention carrying one around. The reactions to that idea have been "why? " (of course), "it's not loaded, right?", "I can't be around a deadly weapon", and other insinuations that I might be crazy. So, I didn't tell her that I carry....
I was putting everything on the next day, before we went out. She was standing right there and I couldn't get her to leave the closet as I was going to put my holster/gun on. So, I just asked her if she would be comfortable seeing my gun. I expected the usual fearful reaction, but instead she answered, "I have already seen your gun". I immediately said "What?!?! Where did you see my gun?!?! How? When?". I was completely shocked!!! My concern was that, maybe, I had flashed everyone in public She said, "when you were putting groceries in the car, I felt something hard on your belt and lifted your shirt up". I said, "but you didn't say anything". Her attitude was that it's not a big deal. Wow! I said, "you are pretty cool". This is just one reason why this girl might be a keeper!
I know these girls exist out there, but it seems like such a rare attitude around here. I don't really have a point - I just had to share this.
