So do you let two high points pass for 150.00

Go for It. People on facebook gun exchanges are looking for HiPoints. And that 9mm would be as reliable and accurate and no more ugly than some guns costing 5X as much.

I would ONLY buy them IF I was allowed to try shooting each one first.

Have the cash in hand and IF they both work, jump on a very good deal. If they do not work like many of the Hi-Points I have seen, then run away as fast as you can. That impressive warranty loses a lot of its appeal when you have to pay to send them back overnight UPS or Fed-Ex as a non-FFL shipper. That warranty would only have real value on the cheap pistols if the manufacturer pays shipping both ways.

$150 total, for both combined, no tax? Absolutely! Guessing you can pretty much guarantee you'd be able to flip them for $100 apiece with minimal effort. That's a 33% return!

Go for it!

Now a days that might not even cover your fuel to meet the seller...

Can't be worse than a Jennings or one of the other pot metal cheapies.
Or could it?

I assure you they are leaps and bounds better than those.
I've shot 3 or 4 of them and have never once saw a fail to fire or a fail to feed in one. They work, plain and simple. The trigger and accuracy are plenty good enough for SD.
Granted, they're not a Sig or a Glock, but they're not supposed to be. They are good for what they are, a no frills gun that works every time.

If you're on a tight budget and need a HD weapon, get them.

I'd buy them and turn them the same day. I'm not a hater, just not something I have a use for. Hell, my beaters are expensive, and all my pistols are beaters. They're meant to be carried and fired. Ding here, ding there, who cares? That's what I do.

i would probably buy them. Then if i hated them or just didnt use them i would resell them or give them away. No way will you lose money on them if you take care of them.

As others have said, I would unquestionably get them and worry about whether I need them, later.
If I decide I don't want them, I could easily flip for a profit.
There's just no downside here.

I used to own a 9mm Hi-Point back a few years ago. Darn good gun I thought. I didn't even think it was too ugly, and it fit my hand well. It was fun to shoot.

I'd say two for $150.00 is a good buy. Heck, one of them costs more than that at a local dealer.

I would pass and let someone who actually wanted them get that deal.

+1

I have no desire to own one of these, even at 1/2 price. Buying things you don't need or want just because they're a good deal is not sound logic. You're still spending money, and just adding stuff to your home.

Yeah, maybe you could flip them for shade over $100 each, but that's hardly worth the effort. Unless I already knew of someone that would immediately buy them for more than I paid, I wouldn't even consider going through the headache of driving around and dealing with prospective buyers to net $50 or $75.

No thanks!

Im past the stage of accumulating things I won't use just because they're cheap.

I've seen 'em, handled them, shot them. Personally I'd pass at pretty much any price.

Funny the references to jennings... back in my college days 40-50 dollars bought a J-22.. they were reliable for our small group and shot pop can accurate to 15-20 yards or so reliably.... Although I am not a fan of the 9mm ones I saw...

I have PLENTY of smith,s sigs, Gocks, colts, rugers, kahrs and customs- never said these would be my only nor my "BEATERS".... I see a place for them but then again I have not seen too many guns I don't like :p

I would not leave a gun in a cabin, car, etc. (what you refer to as "high risk"). If you are looking for a reason to justify buying those Hi-Points, find a better reason.

Just because you would not leave a gun in a locked cabin in a "hidden" spot does not mean a lot of us would not... it is no worse than leaving other tools in a barn... sometimes its nice to have a back up if ya did not have your primary or could not pick it up on the way etc...

So did you buy 'em? I would have in a second. The ones I've owned and shot all performed. The biggest challenge that I have noticed are the lips on some of the magazines. Aside from that, they work. In fact the HP 45 is probably one of the softest shooting 45's out there due to the humongous slide on a straight recoil semi.

Even if you don't need 'em at the moment...buy 'em, tweak 'em (if necessary) to make sure they work, and save 'em for a rainy day - be it need for cash or need for barter. ;)

They shoot like a brick, but the ones I have shot ate everything I put in them. I agree they might be ok for a disposable truck gun but not much else. The three hundred could get you a uses piece that would much more quality like a used fnp-9 or some such.
