Hmmmm, I have

Blued guns,
Stainless guns,
A nickel plated gun,
(That ones not too fun.)

Parkerized guns,
Cerakoted guns,
Patinaed guns,
Guns I shoot alright,
I even think theres a gun in the white.

Refinished guns,
Walnut stocked guns,
Synthetic stocked guns,
A two-tone gun...
(That’s a 28 gauge, they’re too much fun.)

Guns I’ve never shot,
Guns I shoot a lot,
Guns whose uses are few,
and even a couple of guns I’ll never shoot....

Stay safe. ;)

I can’t believe y’all forgot Bubba Guns, sawed off Guns and Church Guns.

and BP Guns (black powder), Fun Guns usually big bore and stun guns, derringers, dads guns and mamas guns, mouse guns, hideout guns, ankle guns.

Black powder and smokeless powder?

Seriously, the great mass of firearms fall into categories and then subcategories. A collector may categorize differently than a non-collector.

Just a thought; there is the category of 'martial arms'. Firearms that were officially adopted for use by a government sponsored force.

Subcategories can be as simple as 'machine guns' and 'non-machine guns'. Or eras (Black powder, non-cartridge; black powder, cartridge; early smokeless - cartridge (I don't think there are any smokeless powder, non cartridge arms) and so on.

Or one could divide martial arms into nations that adopted them. Or companies who designed them (as opposed to those who made them).

Cannons! Some folks love to shoot cannons.

I see either a rather large monograph or a book in the making. To get an idea look at Cartridges of the World and consider the arms made for the entries.

Around here we have our "backup gun". That one comes in play when someone screams "Back me up!!!", or the voice in our head goes "Oh sheet..!!!". In both cases, there is a ton or more of stuff to stop there and then, if at all possible, please. This calls for a BOOOM...

Then we have a "poacher gun", in 7.62x39. If you don't have one of these, you cringe and wince everytime you have to waste your precious hunting ammo in the general direction of a two-legged scoundrel...

At first I thought "Uh....what the ....?"

Then I saw the part about East Africa.

Okay, I'm betting things are different there.....

Nevermind. I was going to tell all about the huge Naval gun plant that was built in Pocatello, Idaho during WWII, but decided "guns" like that are probably not what the OP meant by "Different Types of Guns.";)

"Couch guns", AKA "dog house guns".

The guns you got without telling the wife, and if she finds out, you'll be on the couch, or in the dog house.

Son of a gun.

IIRC, it was John “Pondoro” Taylor who wrote that his African staff dubbed one of his big stopping rifles as “Son of Cannon,” in their language, so, yes a son of a gun can be an actual firearm.

To be clear, I am not saying anything about his hunting ethics. That would be best discussed in a separate thread topic.
