Born and live near a big city (have no desire to live near a ton of people), but I spent/spend a lot of time on my grandfather's ranch. I like cars and trucks, but I try and distance myself from the huge 20" lifts you tend to see in east Texas, aka "MUDDERS". I have been hunting and plan to go more, but again, I try and distance myself from the camo everything crowd. I hate fishing, but love spending time outdoors, especially the mountains. I drink, but not beer, and if I do drink beer it isn't anything light, mostly 'snobby' beers. Currently attend college for a CIS (Computer Information systems) degree.

So, you decide what category that puts me into, since I don't care.

I am 72-year-old retired psychologist who now lives on a small hobby farm. To me hunting and shooting are sports that I am dedicated to like so many are to golf. I do drive a four-wheel truck only because the winters where I live can get brutal. I am from the old school and have no use for tactical weapons or semi-automatics with multi round clips. I don’t feel that gun ownership is a macho thing; it is a pleasure, a privilege and a huge responsibility. I also feel that it is my responsibility to teach the younger generations gun safety and their proper use. To this end I teach hunting safety to the kids in 4H and open my place to anyone wanting to learn or sharpen their skills. I have an informal gun club on the farm with setups for rifles, pistols and shotguns.

I a Kansas country boy who was a boy scout and fished, hunted and camped most of my life.I still have the first gun I ever bought, a Remeington Nylon 66. Now I am a 58 year old School Psychologist hoping tp retire in a few years. See, not all Psychologist's are liberals but I know a lot of them that are.

like most here, i don't fit your list.

i'm currently a city boy seeking to move to the country someday soon. not because i love nascar, but because i'd like to have a little more space and because the lifestyle suits me better.

all of the guns i currently own are more or less for defense and plinking. i don't hunt or shoot trap/skeet, not because i don't think it'd be fun, just because i didn't grow up in a family that did so. in fact, i would love an opportunity to learn to hunt with someone experienced.

i do drive a truck, but that's just 'cause everyone drives trucks in texas. i find them more useful than cars.

Bulldog:

Move up here and quite a few of us old timers would be more than happy to get you started hunting and breaking clays. We have some of the best pheasant hunting in the country and an abundance of deer and turkey

I am a proud city kid who loves to shoot. Primarily pistols. I hate Nascar, hate American football (but I love European Football as it is played with your feet), don't drink alcohol except for a toast such as at a wedding or other occasion, nor hunt (nothing against it but it is hard to do in a city) but I do fish on occasion, don't care to offroad, and as I said earlier really hates Nascar.

I am getting my undergraduate degree, working on a Masters degree after I get my undergrad, I worked for my Dad's family business before deciding that I wanted to go to college and pursue my dreams. I also worked odd jobs and just made money doing what I could.

I am also pretty fluent in Spanish and working on my Arabic. I enjoy reading, watching movies, writing, shooting of course, FreeMasonry, and good debates. I also enjoy playing various games of all types such as Chess to more boardgames or even PC games such as Starcraft.

Politically I am pretty far left leaning, with some strong socialist beliefs and some very liberal ones in regards to social issues. When it comes to economic issues, I am in the middle as I like capitalism in most forms but understand the need for a socialist position on others. I used to be much more libertarian but as I started to study more and learn more I realized that the world cannot be that idealistic, though I still love Ron Paul for some reason, I just disagree with him now on some issues. No longer will I ever vote Republican as they turned their back on myself and many others while becoming a party of racists who have no real thoughts on any issues.

As far as religion goes, I consider myself an agnostic and a failed Catholic if you will. I do strongly believe that there is a God but I think that the major religions of the world do not work for me.

I don't consider myself a regular redneck or anything like that. I don't feel there exist different types of gunowners or anything like that. Many people own guns and it seems silly to imagine all gunowners in that ilk with either disdain or nostalgia. It seems that my assertions that gunowners come in many forms is proven by the variety we find here in this thread alone.

Oh and I drive a Scion not a pickup truck. The Scion better suits my lifestyle than a Pickup truck would.

I'm a mutt--part hillbilly (a special breed of redneck), part refined. Grew upa suburbanite in East Tennessee in a town of 30k, learned to hunt when I was 8, got my first bolt action around that age; learned to shoot bow age 9, competed in IBO (International Bowhunters Org) nationals age 10. Guns were always in my home, but they were all bolt guns for hunting. Only shot one pistol as a kid-a taurus .22 SA.
HS saw band-nerdiness at its finest, where I often wore a wool uniform or tux for performances; learned to love classical music. Didn't shoot much through HS, tried to dress well, did a little muddin until I learned what a PITA it is to clean. Mostly developed my woodworking skills in my dad's shop, and construction skills in my backyard. Wore out a 4-wheeler too.
College-the 'development' stage: started appreciating the culture where I came from; listened to even more bluegrass (if for no other reason than to piss off roommates) and country; went fishing every weekend, took a 2 year hiatus in Seattle :barf: (too liberal, too many people), came back, made friends with a true gun nut, and have since gone shooting at least once every couple months; got my first handgun, learned to reload, and started wearing more and more carhartt:D. Became even more politically conservative.

Now I'm on my way to med school...

In summary: A no drinkin', no smokin', no dippin', overall wearin', pocketknife carryin', country music listenin' hillbilly who loves the outdoors and medicine, hates crowds, cleans up nice, appreciates fine suits and apparel, and appreciates firearms even more.

Just a 50+ kinda-gimped-up ex-military redneck-in-training (born in New England, but escaped 30+ years ago, PraiseDeLawd, and I sure like it here in TX).

Country boy who has a passion for engraved high quality firearms, target guns, hunting, classic literature & music, and owns a pick up truck.....because it's too awkward to haul 4X8 sheets of plywood and deer in a car.

Redneck/Execuitive/MBA clinging to his guns and religion and trying to teach my boys to do the same.

are you the proud redneck country boy type? (you love guns, hunting fishing, muscle cars, trucks, raceing, off roading, beer, makes up there own words, etc..) or are you a casual person that only has one target gun, ar, or fancy trap gun? or what would kind of gun owner would you consider your self.

I was born in Chicago in 1958, Dad moved us to NC in 1964. Thank God. Mom died when I was 10, and my brothers and I fell in with hell-raisers. But I'm college educated, and somehow turned into a very successful business executive, until about January 20th, 2009. Now I'm a moderately successful business executive. Luckily, I'm also a moderately successful feed-crop farmer, so two "moderates" still equal a decent living. I don't follow any of the pop-culture diversions any more... racing, sports, etc.

I fish or hunt only with buddies that are way better than I am, only because their patience and expertise makes it fun. I'd love to have one more muscle-car some day, right now, "muscle-tractors" will do. I've been driving only pickup trucks since 1985, because they're just damn handy, and I've been riding dirt-bikes since I was 12, because it's exhilarating. I shoot mostly for skill-practice, as I think it's fun and an important skill for anyone, regardless of their circumstances.

Am I a Redneck? Beats me.

Les
