I'll go out on a limb. How about the parking lot scene in Fargo where Steve Bescemi gets shot in the face. Kind of messed up but hilarious in twisted way.

Mauser Lover, a slight correction here. In the teevee series Gunsmoke, Matt Dillon is not a sheriff. Matt Dillon is a U.S. Marshal.

Oops. You might say its been a while. :)

I'm still putting it in the top ten for its simplicity and corniness. Less so than my other picks, but I like things that have a dramatic buildup then release all tension almost instantly... Like shaggy dog jokes! Have you heard the cookie joke!?

I am surprised no one mentioned any of the great shoot outs from "Extreme Prejudice" with Nick Nolte, or Jeremiah Johnsons revenge attack on the Crows who killed his family.\
The final shoot out in "Unforgiven " was the tensest I can ever think of.....

Maybe not "top ten" ... but I've always liked the river boat shoot-out in the first 20 minutes or so of "The Mummy" with Brendan Frasier

Haven't seen it mentioned yet but the entire ~15 minute gunfight/car chase/gunfight at the end of The Kingdom. Notable for the two main characters running out of ammo several times and using 3 different weapons each.

Here's part 1
