The Final Answer: How Many Guns Do You Need?

You guys don't really need calculus for guns any more than future Naval Aviators at NAS Pensacola's OCS need calculus to understand how to later avoid stalling an airplane, or exceeding NATOPS 'g' limits in the T-6 II etc.

It is an imprudent man that is a one-tractor farmer.

Number of Guitars should be somewhere between tractors and guns.

Think about it.

Fewer than I have. A pump shotgun, a good quality 22 rifle and a 30 caliber rifle would be adequate. I have no real need for a handgun, although I like them pretty well.

I could get away with four if I had to, but I'm not a shotgun guy. Five if you include that.

handgun
.22 rifle
.30'ish rifle
intermediate semi-auto rifle (.223 AR15, AK47)

6:
Shotgun, w/ 18" barrel for home defense and 24-26" barrel for hunting
.22lr rifle for hunting small game and for fun plinking
.30 rifle for big game
AR or AK pattern rifle, because you know the Russians or Chinese still have something up their sleeve
.45 duty or full size semi pistol for CCH
.357 snubbie for CCH backup

That's what I find necessary for piece of mind, everything else is just stuff that I WANT.

:'ll have to get back to ya on ths one, cause I know I don't have enough yet. My wife says I do, but then what does a woman who doesn't shoot know!!

Hey, get her (somehow) into shooting and various calibers at that. Soon you will find your gun collection having offsprings...bribe her with a "free-shoe-shopping" day or something of the like ;) and presto.

I've always battled with this question. I am certain I only really need one, but have always been torn between a 22 and a 12 gauge. I suppose the savage 24 in 22lr-20 gauge is all I really need.

Yeah, that's a neat configuration--I saw one 12 GA / 17 HMR that was about $500 and decided to pass (only because I currently can't justify another gun).

However, if one goes this route, maybe a .22lr handgun of some sort to complement as well?

-Cheers

Yea I suppose if you were going to get something a compliment a 22 pistol would make the most sense. But then you have two guns, which defeats my idea that you only NEED one.
