I called and asked twice last year, and sent a letter, they said they didn't have any plans.
I was able to find a nice used Mountie, very happy with it. You just have to keep looking.
After shooting the Marlin 60, Ruger 10/22, and my now trashed Remington 22 semi auto, it's so nice to shoot the lever action 22s. The semi-autos take an hour to break down and clean, takes about 10 minutes to clean the Mountie.

Owned a 39 Mountie since 1975. After stoning the sear, trigger is smooth. Love it.

Actually though, I have looked at a Winchester 9422 and do know what a real rifle looks like - it looks like a Marlin 39A!

I think you should go ahead and do it when you get the chance, Nem. You have wanted to since post #10!
I can only rib you so hard, though; I first mentioned the Skinner on page 4 and it took me about 70 pages or so to follow through.
My suggestion is to cut at 19", so that way you have at least another crack or two at it if the cut is bad or you don't get a good crown or something. I'd like to see the results and what you think. I bet you'd be real happy with it.
The club actually turned 2 years old this month. It has been very informative and supportive, and I want to thank all of the contributors. It's a treat to check out some of the older posts. There are some gems with a lot of info!

No guys a real rifle looks like a Marlin 1894M.
, but there was no Marlin involved. WOW, 85 pages over two years! I saw this thread and registered on THR just so I could post in it. I've had two 39A's (unwittingly sold both of them) and still have a 39D that I bought used in the early 70's and I just love it. I have a Leupold 4x compact scope on it which makes for a very nice looking rig. I shot it a couple weeks ago, had some really good groups at 50 yards with CCI std velocity. One of my favorite .22's.

I see in yonder Model 60/Wal-Mart topic pictures of a brand new Marlin and what appears to be the Owner's Manual.
What caught my eye is that it looks different than the Marlin Owner's Manuals I personally have for my 39A and what I've seen for years. Matter of fact, it looks similar to the format of Owner's Manual that came with my Remington 870, just in blue and not green.
Anyone with a very new 39A that can confirm this?
I'm a technical writer, so I write user guides and owner's manuals for a living 0 hence my strange interest in this. Interested enough that if it is indeed true they have new manuals I might have to give Marlin a call to see if I can't get one.

Atwoodt, flip back to post #1882, on page 76. There's a serial number lookup page that will get you the year of your rifle's production.
SGW42, good catch on the user's manual. My two year old 39A has the old style. Looking forward to hearing if anyone has a new style.
Winman, you have a winning combo there with a Leupold 4X and a 39A. That's what I shoot, but with the high velocity CCIs. I do like those smaller scopes on the sleek 39A. I've got mine zeroed for 25 yards. I just remember to hold *this* high for 50 and its fine. I've won a couple of postal matches with that combination.....
Shoot a few targets and let us see them!

According to chart on page 76...w/S at start of sn it would have been produced in 1959. Still making octagonal bbl. in 59?
I just did a lil more reasearch and apparently the star stamp on tang was used for a short time in the mid to late 1920's. Could the s892 denote a model 1892? The sn is crude and obviously hand stamped w/ 4 diff. punches/strokes.

Did some more research... mid/early 1920's
The star stamp was used for a short time in the mid 20's as an inspectors mark. The S prefix started in the early 1920's mine is S892...so 892nd made after change to S prefix in the early 1920's....and I would like to see it go to a good home...someone who would truely appreciate it.
