The Paradox.

"Sink his canoe!" Expecting to get shot at but keeping ROE in mind. OK. My faith in WI police is now reaffirmed.

Years ago, in Jr. High, a WW2 veteran who occasionally did substitute work was subbing my class. He told us a story of how these guys in a motorboat would come close to rowboats and turn away at the last moment, letting their wave capsize the rowboats. He said he put his 30.30 rifle into his boat and went out fishing. According to him they came at him but he pointed his rifle at them and they turned away immediately, their wake not a concern for him.

I liked that old guy. He had the "linebacker" body. Huge build (not fat, even in his 60's) and no neck whatsoever. He was a veteran of the Battle of the Bulge. I wish he had told us more stories.

Actually, I grew up in MN. Dad was a St. Paul cop, and had conservation officer powers while in the field hunting. The two FWS agents that stopped us on a duck slough once apparently didn't know that , and grabbed for their S&W 66's at the 6 o'clock when they commanded my dad to open his ammo can and the Glock 17 in a holster was sitting on top. They asked "What do you have that out here for?" he answered, "You didn't see this (Badge in wallet, next to his police ID and DL) earlier? I am authorized to carry this anywhere in the State, and have Conservation Officer powers when afield."
They weren't happy about that.

OMGosh, seriously? Sounds like MN game wardens need to brush up on the Bill of Rights, check their hoplophobia, along with their privilege a peg or two.

SMH...

Also, I had a feeling this didn't happen in WI but figured you'd correct me if it didn't.

They were US Fish & Wildlife agents. We were hunting the slough of Lake Lizzy, which is a Federal Wildlife Management Area.
Actually every MN and WI DNR warden I've met has been cordial, even when we were ice fishing and three sheets to the wind. They'd just say, "Be sure to drive safe when you leave."

I had no idea what "FWS" meant and had to guess. Let me rephrase. "Federal game wardens need to brush up on the Bill of Rights, get professional help for their hoplophobia, and check their privilege."

I have only run into one game warden "in the wild" but he was chill and said very little.

And this one is done. If you want to talk about game wardens and the bill of rights take it to General Gun Discussions or hunting.
