On Military channel right now, Top 10 combat rifles of all time, 1 hr long. Great show, interesting background on some great rifles. I'm sure some of you know all the details on these weapons but still a worthwhile watch.

I've seen it several times. The only thing I really disagree with is that the Mosin-Nagant should have made the list instead of the M14. The 1891 MN and it's descendants are only the longest serving battle rifle of all time.

I'm with RNB65

The m14 is a great rifle, and it has seen continual but somewhat limited military use through out the years, but the Nagant was the major player in the Russian military for decades. They may not have scored it high for innovation, but if they are looking for a powerful, rugged, gun that has a long service life and was made in the millions, I think the MN is it.

Thanks for the links, very interesting show, I agree the mosin deserves a spot in there somewhere.

It was kind of funny (or sad/angry) that when talking about the stg44 the host noted "all future rifles chambered in intermediate calibers would be known as assault rifles"

The AUG, STG44 and M14 do not belong on that list. Well, maybe the M14 does. If the AUG and STG44 were not there, the M14 could justify it's 10th ranking. 1903 is just a Mauser copy. Doesn't belong on the list.

Mosin Nagant deserves a place.

G3 deserves a spot more than the AUG does. Not that I think the G3 necessarily makes the top 10.

This topic has been discussed at great length in multiple threads, but I guess it's still topic-worthy and attracts interets.

I'd scratch the AUG and '44 and add MN and G3. Keep M14. I'd adjust the rankings. M1 Garand deserves the 3rd spot since it dominated its contemporaries so much.

Whatever the case - it is absurd that the Mosin Nagant is not on the list. That just proves how stupid these TV shows are.

Yep, I agree.
Much as I like the rifle they should ditch the M14 and add the M91 Mosin.
Ditch the AUG,(Who uses this rifle anyway?, The Australians, The Austrians, New Zealand Defense Force, and The Omani Army, big deal, real war fighters there.)
Add the G3.
