Some of us have already discovered that you typically get what you pay for.

For example, I've already learned that Pro-Mag, USA, Triple K, Ramline, Eagle, No-Name brands and others are not reliable. Sometimes they work initially, but soon lose their ability to function properly.

Your priority is to save some pennies and that's fine, as it doesn't affect me in the slightest.

My priority is to have reliable guns, even if it costs a little more at the outset.

Ok...

And some of us with kids, mortgages, and car payments don't mind finding A CHEAPER MAG THAT WORKS, didn't say failure. Glad it doesn't affect you, hate for you to lose sleep. And I assure you, my stuffs reliable. Don't you worry yourself.

The two 9mm's I've enjoyed the most were:
SA XD9 4" (Still own, #1 fave firearm)
HK USP Compact 4" (Exceeded his $ limit, but a fine pistol)

#6 and #10 on peoples choice vote.

My list would look something like this...

Ruger SR9c
Ruger SR9
HK P30
Glock 19
Glock 17
S&W M&P9c
S&W M&P9
SA XDm
BHP
CZ 75B

I don't know the top 25, but I know the top 1.

It's the Walther P99AS.

I would say the Walther P88, but they are no longer made, hard as heck to find, and pricey when you find them.

That list wouldn't be very close to my list.

My top 25 Best 9mm list would start like this....

1. Sig P210
2. Walther P88
3. Browning HP
4. Sig P226
5. CZ-75
6. S&W M&P9
7. Glock 19
8. Beretta 92f
9. HK P30L
10. Walther P99

That list is proof once more that there's no accounting for tastes in firearms. I'd start with the Walther P5, and I might even add it in second, third, fourth, and fifth place as well.

I am no proponent of cheap mags. However, I got four Promags in a deal on a Sig P228 years ago. I initially bought the gun to do a two day combat pistol course, but I was wary of the Promags so bought a few Sig Factory mags also.

I took the P228 to the range and quickly found out the four mags worked FLAWLESSLY, but the mag springs seemed weaker than the Sig factory mags. So I replaced the Promag springs with Wolff +5% mag springs, then deburred the polymer mag followers with a dremel. I used the Promags in my two day gun course where again they worked flawlessly, and have ever since. Several years later, they are still working perfectly.

Would I buy Promags if they didn't come in a package deal? No, but I wouldn't also throw them out without trying them and/or tuning them first.

I got a bunch of Promags in a deal with my Beretta 92FS. They were the 17 round mags and one of the bases on one was crooked, but I was easily able to fix it. In the 92, they worked ok, but occasionally, they would hang up. I cleaned up the followers and put in new springs, but they still missfed once in a while. In my Kel-Tec Sub2000 though, they work great, and I plan on buying a couple more of them soon.

I'm with all those that think there can be a much better pistol had for over $600 and I personally would agree with Sig228's list generally. Maybe not in that same order but he's close.

The voting list sure looks more realistic than the initial list.

You even KNOW anyone with a a baby eagle? Much less 2 of them making the top 25?

My experience:

Best single action 9mm : BHP (won't incluse the Sig 210 it's just too pricey for most)
Best DA/SA: Sig 226
Best 9mm that's not one of those: Glock 17 (if the P7 was still in production I'd list it here)

Great guns for the money:
Ruger DA/SA pistols

That list is complete garbage.

No offense to CZ owners, but yeah right, a CZ is number one?
Taurus in the top 5?
Stoeger anywere in the top 10?
Baby Eagle number 2?

I suppose if you consider it is $600 or less there may be some limitations, but there are still lots of questions on that list in my mind.

Yeah, CZ number one. And? Jeff Cooper found the design to be exemplary, as do many including myself. Other than that, Taurus doesn't belong, Stoeger shoulda been a bit higher, baby eagle a bit lower, and Glock 17 number 20. It's opinions, like poop chutes, we all got em.

Me personally, unless it's a BHP or a Sig210, I'm not paying over $600 for a 9mm in the first place, so obviously there's gonna be a few limitations for me. That being said, the list is not in anyway perfect, nor will there be a such thing. Other than the 75 being number one!!!
