DANVILLE, Va. - A man shot a teenager who he said broke into his Halifax Street home Monday night.

The 15-year-old boy was taken to Danville Regional Medical Center after being shot in the shoulder area. Danville Police Lt. Mike Mondul said Tuesday that he had no information on the boy’s condition.

Police were called to the 200 block of Halifax Street around 9:12 p.m. A man told police he fired his gun after two teenagers forced their way into his home.

The second boy remains at large. Mondul said the department has no clear description of the boy.

The man told police he noticed the two boys in his backyard area. When he went outside to find out what they were doing, the boys threw some sort of liquid on him. Police do not believe that the substance was water. The department is awaiting lab results to determine what it was.

The man ran back into his house and the two boys chased him, forcing their way through his door. The man eventually found his way to his gun.

Mondul said there is no indication the second teen was injured. He said an “edged weapon similar to a knife” was found at the scene.

No charges have been filed against the boy or the homeowner. While police are investigating the shooting, Mondul said it is clear the man was assaulted, pointing to the suspects dousing him with a substance and chasing him inside his home. He said the law grants citizens the right to protect themselves if presented with deadly force.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact Danville Crime Stoppers at (434) 793-0000 or via e-mail at [email protected]. Information given will remain confidential. Those who call Crime Stoppers may be eligible for a cash reward of up to $1,000.

another child senselessly injured by someone having a gun in their house....

It do smell like the kid got what he was asking for - trouble and shot at. How come the criminals can have the right to crap on other people's rights and when they're rights are violated while they do the same then they are the goddamned victims?
That surely beats me. If this kid had enough guts to pull that stunt then he must be ready to consequenses his actions may have. And that's good he got what he got - nothing lethal and permanent but a rememberance that every action indeed has a reaction.

I love the way that the article makes it sound like a BG injured a poor kid. Too bad the REAL victim didn't have better aim. $5 says this delinquent doesn't straighten out.

If what few facts the story has in it are correct, the man was under attack in his own home. Any reasonable person would have been in fear for their well being. I can't imagine how anyone would think he did anything wrong in protecting himself.

$5 says this delinquent doesn't straighten out.
While I loath having such a dark attitude, I don't think I'd take a bet up against you.
:(

Janitor, I was actually being cynical. The dark attitude, is that next time, the runt will likely be armed, and decide to kill them before they give him justice.

OH .... OH NO .... THIS MAN WAS TOTALLY WRONG!!! :what:

What he should have done was run back into the house and called 911 on his cell-phone (regular line might have been cut), and then helped those poor little tykes gather up whatever they wanted while he waited for the police to arrive ...

Or he could have hid under the bed ....

After all of his pain and suffering, I do hope that the youngster involved isn't sent to detention of some kind. What he really needs in plenty of T.L.C. and regular visits with a "mental professional" to help him understand that everything was really the fault of our flawed society that lets people have guns that they shouldn't have. What if it had been one of those awful fifty-caliber things that you can buy at unregulated gun shows?

Next thing I'll do is post this on the Democrat Underground site ... They'll know what too do to stop this sort of thing ...

SURE ...... :neener: :D :D

He said the law grants citizens the right to protect themselves

The law GRANTS.............

Too bad he didn't get them both.

!! Scarey!!

He probably would have decimated the entire neighborhood!
