Picked up some vintage compacts for my .38 Special GP100 with security contract overrun barrel:



That’s classic retro 80’s wheelgun right there. These are the historically correct grips for the KGPF-841 which is the model designation for this variant. It’s a great shooter and is my bedside gun loaded with FBI loads (158 grain LSWCHP +P).

They look really nice. I debated trying the ones that Altamont offers. Mine are the Hogue factory rubber grips.

I put a set of those on my SP101, but went with the faux pearl inserts. Loved the look and feel of the grip but never really cared for the gun. Traded it towards my Colt Commander 45.

Recently I picked up a 1989 GP100 3" 357 with the same original compact grips as yours. I was pleasantly surprised how much I liked the compact grip, enough so I ordered another compact set from Altamont with snakeskin inserts.

Looks even better now! Good kit pic. One of my fav GP100s I’ve seen. I like my 5 1/2” GP100 in 22LR too.

I normally run Safariland speedloaders but figured the classic basketweave drop pouch with speed strips would look neat with it.

The Altamonts with inserts look great to me, as does your Ruger.
Plain rubber grips sometimes feel good, but generally look like (redacted).
