Picked up some vintage compacts for my .38 Special GP100 with security contract overrun barrel:

That’s classic retro 80’s wheelgun right there. These are the historically correct grips for the KGPF-841 which is the model designation for this variant. It’s a great shooter and is my bedside gun loaded with FBI loads (158 grain LSWCHP +P).

That looks awesome! I have something similar in the works but haven't taken possession yet. You are set up for just about anything with that set up.
 
Recently I picked up a 1989 GP100 3" 357 with the same original compact grips as yours. I was pleasantly surprised how much I liked the compact grip, enough so I ordered another compact set from Altamont with snakeskin inserts.
 
The Altamonts with inserts look great to me, as does your Ruger.
Plain rubber grips sometimes feel good, but generally look like (redacted).
Not so these!
