The club I used to belong to down in MD had a pretty unusual setup.
The rifle, skeet, and sporting clays ranges were on leased land the club didn't own. (That didn't end well...)
The pistol range, however, was pretty great. The club had at some point joined with a group of members in a business relationship that created an "arms length" agreement whereby the club and this semi-autonomous sub group went in together on a building project to create a combination range facility and event facility. The sister organization ran the large, very nice, hall as an event center and catering kitchen, hosting all sorts of large meetings, weddings, reunions, proms, etc. nearly 365 days a year. The Sportsman's club had a state-of-the-art pistol range in the basement under one side of the hall, and held all their meetings in the hall, with very nice catered dinners for all members each month.
You could be shooting downstairs while there was a wedding, or the policemen's ball, going on upstairs.
