What did you get as a hedge against restrictive legislation?

When I first looked at that pic, I thought I saw a severed finger inside the trigger guard....

Happy Halloween!

To be ripped apart and rebuilt later as an LR-257Roberts.

Picking up an aero precision lower for an AR pistol build tomorrow. And hopefully get my semi auto 12 gauge out of lay away jail this weekend too.

Luckily just before last year's election (yes I voted) I preemptively picked up my Saiga 12, several stripped AR receivers and a couple SKS's. When SHTF I kept my eyes open for good deals but the only thing I scooped up was a couple dozen more steel AK mags.

I actually sold everything I had that was newer than the 1940s (except a few reproductions of 1870/80s firearms). Although truth be told, that had less to do with concerns over legislation and more to do with I've been bitten by the black powder bug.

A second M-1 was the only recent, serious rifle objective, planned way back in '09.

Even though our "King's" recent EO (or EA) does Not limit the CMP's ability to acquire any more Garands via the DOD-the CMP's only source for M-1s-the public perception might not be able or willing to realize or understand the subtleties involved.

People believe negative rumours before they believe positive information (or decide to search for it).

I bought a pile of "Hi capacity" magazines for all of my ACPs. I've always found that term extremely subjective.

Several dozen 30-40rd PMags, 30rd GI mags, etc.

...still waiting on ammo prices to come back down enough to fill 'em all up. :scrutiny:

I've bought several guns lately. Not so much out of fear of more restrictive legislation, because it isn't going to happen in Texas.
Although I like to think of this one as a slap in the face to the anti gun crowd. :D

A Trust and four suppressors ordered.
Didn't obama recently sign an executive order against such trusts?

.

Nothing. If what I have isn't grandfathered in, they'll have to try and come and get it.

I already had some but I bought a whole lotta, a LOT LOT of, standard capacity mags (30rnd) metal w/magpul followers, PMags, and a bunch of Surefire 60rounders.

It wasn't an EO, it was an executive action, which is really anything done by the executive branch. Basically the administration saw something the ATF was thinking about doing and told them to go ahead with the idea, and then took credit for it (kinda like how your boss can take credit for your work).

The issue wasnt that people were using trusts, it was that the trustees werent getting background checks like the individuals were. The proposed change in the CFR only makes trustees submit fingerprints etc, it doesnt elimiate trusts as a legitimate holder of NFA weapons.

The regulation is currently in the CFR comment period (90 days) and then the ATF has to respond to those comments before actually changing the regulation. There are a lot of legitimate questions about how the ATF is going to deal with things like trusts already in possession, of NFA weapons and how they're going to deal with the fact that trusts are regulated at the state level, not at the federal level (in regards to things like verbiage and adding/removing trustees).

Oh, and my hedge Was purchasing a couple of mags that I was going to buy anyway, I just pushed up the purchase date by a week or two because I knew they wouldn't be in stock much longer. I actually sold more things than I purchased.

Nothing. I donated any money (~$1,800) I was tempted to spend to groups fighting to prevent the problem for everyone in the thinking that if I did the right thing I wouldn't regret the outcome.

Not as a hedge, at least at first.

I have a previously purchased Saiga Sporter that I brought at a very good sale price well before things got silly that I had never modified. (I actually only had one magazine for it). I have left it in it's original Sporter factory condition in case they ban semi-autos based on a single feature like a pistol grip.
