What does your wife carry?

Good Question. I'm looking for something for my wife to carry that she will be comfortable with. She has fired my .38 special and .357 magnum. She has fired my Ruger Alaskan with .45 LC, not the .454 Casull. She was okay with the .38 special and the .45 LC but both guns were too big for her to carry and trigger on the Alaskan is a bit much. (She's 71 years old.) I'm seriously considering either the S&W 351PD or the Ruger 941 in .22 mag.
I know the .22 mag. is not recommended for personal defense but she'll practice putting 7 or 8 shots into the target before checking to see if the perp is still standing. I'd rather have something she can hit the target with than a cannon she is reluctant to fire or can't fire without flinching.
Any comments?
Thanks

I bought my wife a Sig 239 in 9mm and tossed some Hogue rubber grips and night sights on there. She shoots the gun surprisingly well after about a year now. I am pretty confident that she could hold her own against the average crackhead or rapist. The 239 is a very well balanced, reliable, and fun to shoot little gun.

She moved from an S&W 65, 3" (too heavy) to a Beretta 92 SBC ( too heavy and bulky) to a Glock 26 (ugly, but it is small and it works). Her bed gun is an S&W 66, 4". My wife carries her gun every day- even to her work. They have decided that a "don't ask, don't tell" policy is the best for her. She works at a Vet Clinic in a questionable neighborhood. Once they told her that she was not allowed to have her gun on the premises. She said that was fine and they would have her resignation by days' end. Her being the most senior licensed technician, it was decided that as long as she was discrete about it and didn't talk about it- they would stop asking.

The truly ironic part was one night, when some ne'er do well was trying to kick in the back door while screaming "give me the m**therf**cking Special K" (ketamine), they did ask her to "get her purse until the police show up".

Springfield XD-9 4".

And she's very mean with leather reins when you surprise her with an ice cube while she's cleaning horse tack.

I worry more about anyone who'd try to mug her than I do about her!

XD9 Sub Compact. She'd carry one of her .44s but I've so far managed to convince her its not a good idea. She does have one on the night stand, along with an 870 next to the bed.

Jenn carries the formally mine Glock 19.

I carried it for over a decade, and I found it to be one of the most comfortable carry guns I've used.

No suprise that she wanted to take it from me. Now, I carry it when it is deemed more appropriate based upon dress, etc. but I carry my 1911A1 now.

Well my little lady all of 5"2'...carrys (alternately)

SP101 2'(usually loaded with 357 mags)
Kimber Ultra carry 2 .45
XD Subcompact .40
Ruger P94 .40
Inox Tomcat .32 (BUG only)
Bersa Thunder .380 (BUG only)

usually with extra mags for the autoloaders...

Beretta Tomcat. We have tried many options, but she keeps going back to the little Beretta. I put up a fuss for a while, but she will keep the Tomcat with her and she practices with it, and that's what counts, so I have let her be.

Smith & Wesson Revolver

She carries a Smith & Wesson Model 340PD Revolver with HIVIZ sights. It kicks like a mule, but I feel like she will be more likely to carry it because it is so light and small.

From their website: Smith & Wesson combined a Scandium alloy frame with a Titanium cylinder to build the strongest and lightest weight .357 Magnum revolver made.

Her car gun in the gunvault model safe is "her" Ruger P89. We're still working on options for on the body carry but I just pleased she got her permit and is enjoying shooting.

Nothing.
She's a flaming liberal.
She also isn't sure she could ever shoot someone in any circumstance. So, that's one of the main reasons I wouldn't press her to carry.
Though, she did ask me to take her to a shooting range just yesterday. So, she may be coming around.

She carries a H&K USP .45 compact (that at one point I seem to remember owning, though I'm consistantly assured I'm mistaked about that) in her maxpedition fatboy on the weekends and a Taurus MIllenium 745 (.45) in her Coronado Leather gun purse daily to work.

Her boss has also decided a "don't ask, don't tell" policy is best in her specific case about that specific subject. It happened alsmost exactly as VegasOPM described his situation. Though they've never had cause to ask her to get her purse a couple of other female employees wait for her to be done for the day to walk to their cars with her and only after they found out she carries.

I would obviously prefer that she carry on the body but, I'm just tickled pink she carries and practices. I'll take those as big wins and hope she comes around on the little stuff.

We're currently saving for an Ultra Carry II in stainless with night sights for her but things being what they are it may be Christmas of '09 before we can pull that off. Kimber sure is proud of them things.

My wife, she carries handbag without any guns. (Sorry, there is nail scissors and nailefile, ofcourse)

Being the wife, I carry the following EDC:
XD45 compact in MTAC IWB
Benchmade Osborne 930
wallet
Fenix L1P
Keychain with 'stuff'
Leatherman Juice KF4
Spare mag for XD
