Shotgun work
My BERETTA DT10 Sporting...I kept count till the 125,000 round mark, which I reached last summer. BERETTA asked to see the gun, since it had more rounds through it than any DT10 in North America at that point. After stripping and inspecting the action, they replaced a coulple of springs, and the locking bolt[since they were "inside", it didn't really need it]. They performed the service for free since they asked to see it, but said that if it had been a customer that regularly sent it in, the bill would have been about $70.
125,000 rounds of 12 ga target loads in 3 years, and it costs $70 worth of replacement parts.......I could live with that
It was a cold winter, so I think I'm only at around 135,000 rounds now, and it doing fine.
As far as pistols go, the handgun that I still own that probally has the most rounds through it is my WILSON STEALTH, .45 acp carry gun originally built in '95 on a Springfield Armory Lightweight Compact. At around 5 thousand rounds[thats alot for a carrygun] I discorvered[during cleaning, it wasn't malfunctioning] that the alloy frame was cracked in 3[!] places. I contacted WILSON, and they asked me to send it in. Upon inspection, the notified me that they were willing to cover the frame under their warranty[it wasn't their gun, it was a SPRINGFIELD I sent them to work on!], and they replaced the frame, checkering and all, rebuilt all the insides with my old hammer, sear, etc, and refit the entire gun, for FREE!.
Since then['00] I have fired approx. another 1500 rounds throught the gun, and the WILSON alloy frame is holding up MUCH better than the SPRINGFIELD.
I have owned competition pistols in the past that I have shot more[alot more], but nothing I ever felt "attached to" like my STEALTH.
The rifle that I shot the most was certainly the Clark 10/22 that I shot Chevy Team Challange with for 4 years. The same rifle took me from starting[92] to winning the national championships["96] .....I REMEMBER buying 7 cases[5000 cases] of .22 cal ammo. I have NO IDEA how much ammo that rifle actually shot, but it won me $$$$$ every year at TEAM CHALLANGE. In '98, when all I could think about was Sportingclays, I sold that rifle to pay for a trip to some shoot. I REALLY wish I still had it
The rifle that I still own that i have shoot the most is probally my favorite big game rifle, my old Pre-64 M70 30/06. I've been hunting/shooting it since '80.....its the rifle that I certainly have the most confidence in,....and it on its second barrel.
The most common thing I hear from gun owners is that they wish they shot more often........I don't want to die with REGRETS!
