What is the first gun you ever puchase or received

Age 6, Daisy model 25 pump gun.

I didn't realize we were counting BB guns. I got my first one at the age of 5. I was shooting a shotgun at 7 and a .22 by 9. Dad was big on the idea that shotguns were safer for kids because the range was much more limited.

My first gun was a gift from an uncle...a 12 gauge shotgun...Ted Williams with a poly choke; the second gun was the first gun I ever purchased and it was a Remington model 7400 in 30.06. I bought it I believe back in 1988 or 1989. It has never jammed on me and I've only missed twice with it in all those years. I think it has literally killed more deer than CWD! :) and yes I still use them both and they accompany me to deer camp ever year.

At the age of 12 I received the model 06 Winchester .22 rifle that my father had received from my grandfather at age 12. Was allowed to keep loaded in my bedroom closet when I was growing up as every other gun in the house was. loaded. It has been in the family now for over 85 years. Today a parent would probably go to jail for allowing his children to be in possession of a loaded gun.

A Model 1917 Remington 30-06 with some stock modifications for my early whitetail hunting. I think this was my first rifle I bought for myself sometime in the late 70's.

First gun I ever shot was my Dad's Winchester M72a bolt action 22.

First gun I ever bought was a Remington Nylon 77 (new).

Still have both. :)

A 9 shot H&R pistol when I was 12. Put 50c down and 50c a week till the $26 gun was paid for at the General Store in town. Gives you some idea of the times when they would sell a gun to a kid with no questions asked.

I bought this at a farm auction,,,

I bought my first rifle at a farm auction,,,
A Winchester Model 1890 pump,,,
Chambered in .22 short only.

I paid a whopping $5.00 for it,,,
But it was missing the magazine rod,,,
So in essence it became a single-shot rifle.

Man but that thing was accurate!

It really was in crappy condition though,,,
The pump handle had broken off,,,
Someone made a replacement.

The big knurled nut to take the gun apart was stripped,,,
Dan found a big ugly bolt that worked,,,
The stock was in pitiful condition,,,
But again, it was very accurate.

I wish I still had the gun now,,,
I gave it to my baby brother when I enlisted in 1970.

Later on I asked him where it was,,,
He had traded it off for a bag of weed. :fire:

My first gun to call my own, and not loaners was a 16 ga. Remington Wingmaster, was a gift from my dad. My first gun I bought, I sold the 16 ga. and put some with it to "upgrade" to a Remington mod 48 auto loader in 12 ga. Sure would like to have either of them back today!

My first gun was a Mossberg 500 combo, 28" vent rib and rifled slug barrels. I bought it went I was 13 with money from my paper route.

Sighted it in with 3" slugs without hearing protection. My ears rang for more than a week and I have hearing damage from that stupid decision.

Colt Jr. Pocket .25 ACP. When I was 21 years old, I found myself working a job where all of my coworkers told me it was common that we carry a concealed weapon during work. So on the advice of [can't remember who or why] I bought the little Colt .25. I enjoyed shooting it at the range, but it wasn't very accurate. So my next gun was a High Standard Supermatic Target .22, which was VERY accurate, and led me into small bore competitive shooting. The little Colt .25 soon gave way to a series of more suitable guns and calibers for concealed carry/defensive use, but I still have both that Colt .25 and the High Standard .22, though I have not shot either of them in many years.

Early into the first term of the current regime, I started "thinking" about where things might be heading.

A lady where I worked somehow mentioned that she had a Walther PP .32ACP for sale. She said it had only been used for 7 shots. So, we cut a deal - $300. got me the "new" Walther plus two magazines, a holster, and two boxes of ammo - minus seven rounds. Oh, $300. plus a cheeseburger deluxe from a local "good" place.

That was the crack in the dam. Over the last five years, the floodgates opened to the tune of ten more "necessities" plus accessories.

The Walther was my first firearm since a Marine Corps issue .45 in 1967 somewhere just south of the DMZ. One difference, of course, I had to give the .45 back.

First and one of the best for me

With my first paycheck from being in the Reserves, I got a Browning Buckmark Bullseye model. Gets dirty fast, but if I feed it well, it's the closest thing ever to a tack driver. Pretty thing too, with the rosewood grips.

My first was an old pawn shop Rossi 5 shot .38spcl snubbie. I shoot handguns well enough but not that one - couldn't hit a danged thing. :p Traded it years later for a 80s (meh) Win 94.

My first gun was a Winchester 37A 12 gauge singleshot. It was given to me by my dad as a Christmas present in 1969, when I was 10 years old. I no longer have it, but I do have my grandfather's red letter model 37 and wouldn't give it up for all of the money in the world.

The first gun I ever purchased was a Marlin Glenfield model 60 autoloader .22. I still have it and have worn the stock finish bare in places. Love that little gun and have used it to teach many kids how to shoot.

My first purchases were as a poor college student eating ramen for dinner. My first rifle I purchased was a .22 Squires Bingham for $40 at a department store in Dallas which I still have. The first handgun I bought upon turning 21 was also $40 and was a .25 Raven. Many years later I sold the Raven to a co-worker for something like $20. He shot it like it was a Glock and after hundreds of rounds was pissed at me because the firing pin broke.
