I own multiple handguns, all different calibers and enjoy them all. But my " Fun Gun " is my Ruger 22/45 Lite MKIV. It's like it was made for my pure enjoyment. It fits me perfectly, is lite enough so I get no arm fatigue, I can pull the trigger 500 times in one sitting and not have any trigger finger issues at all and the sights work perfectly with my 69 yr old eyes. I have no ammo issues at all, amazingly reliable and so easy to shoot accurately. Every range session with this gun is just pure enjoyment. Anyone else have a " Fun Gun" ?

Hmmm, my definition of a "fun gun" is one where its primary reason for ownership is having fun, rather than SD, hunting, or serous target work- though of course these can be fun as well.

In which case, my .410 Enfield fits the bill perfectly!

You can blow lots of little holes, or a few bigger holes, or one big hole in all kinds of stuff at short ranges with just enough recoil to make it interesting. Plus, it likes to eject empties into the next county with a firm tug on the lever.
For a smoothbore, its actually quite accurate with slugs out to 25yd or so.

Not very practical, there are sure lighter .410s out there for varmints and birds, but the fun factor is off the chart!

A pal has a .410 Enfield that I want in the worst way. One day, after all these years - an advantageous opportunity will present itself.

Todd.

Browning Medalists. A joy to shoot. Every time I let someone shoot them at the range, they out-shoot their own guns with them. Especially the one with the target grip. There's something about the design of the grip that tends to improve accuracy vs. standard grips.

I can remember seeing the smoothbore Enfields in Shotgun News back in the day for, like, $50 when their .303 bretheren were going for $150 ish, and thinking "An Enfield shotgun, thats silly, who would want one?"

Love those Browning Medalists! I could see where those target grips could provide for a really solid and steady grip on the gun.

Like ApacheCo Todd, I rarely go to the range without a percussion revolver. Properly made (or modified) these guns are reliable, accurate, and an absolute pleasure. When indoor ranges are the only option (no blackpowder) I usually will bring a percussion revolver modified for .38 Colt with heeled bullets.

I also enjoy what may be the silliest thing in the handgun world - a .500 S&W using 440 cast bullets and Trail Boss. This gets about 800 FPS, recoils hardly at all, and the bullets usually can be visually tracked to the target. "You wasting perfectly good wheel weights again?" is the rangemaster's usual catcall - but he always wants a turn, too.

Yep, that would be my old Model 63 Smith .22 "Kit Gun." Although, I have used it to take the head off a fool hen (Mountain Grouse) or two for the frying pan while deer hunting, and I've used it to put a couple of ran-over cats out of their misery (which wasn't fun), mostly I just carry it along on fishing trips for some informal plinking when the fish aren't biting.
And as I said in another thread, I ordered an SR22 from a LGS on Saturday. It might arrive this afternoon - I'm gettin' kinda anxious even though all I figure it's going to be is just another "fun gun." That's all I have planned for it anyway.:)

I'm in the same camp as @BlueHeelerFl . My Henry Big Boy 357. Shooting pumpkins, steel plates at 25 yards, 45 yards and 100 yards. Just awesome. So much fun that I am about to the pull the trigger on a Marlin 45-70. Seems like a must have rifle that will be oh so much fun to reload and shoot.

Then the Ruger Mark III Stainless. We always feel like heroes pummeling four plates side by side at 10 yards.

I have many of the guns mentioned, but to me hands down would be one of my Zenith 9mms. I already had a pile of clips for an HK 94, but it has too long a barrel.

One Zenith has a red dot, the other iron sights.
Just like having semi-auto MP5.

EDIT regarding next post
When Pope Urban saw his first crossbow he stated that he thought such a horrible weapon would put an end to war. In 1862 Dr. Richard Gatling labored under a similar notion and invented the Gatling Gun thinking it would do just that.

On the other hand when Hiram Maxim ran into a friend in Paris in 1881 and talked business his friend said , "If you want to REALLY make money then just invent a faster way for europeans to kill each other."

He did.
