I would love to host the real thing, but we all know that's not likely to happen. So, let's have a "VIRTUAL" BBQ.

Post pictures of the gun you would be likely to choose to carry at a big old friendly Texas style BBQ. It doesn't have to be fancy, just interesting. Tell us why you would choose that particular piece. Anything goes from .22-.500...cap n ball included.

Mrs and I visited @Riomouse911 old stomping grounds near Bandera, TX. And came home with a brand new way of hosting a BBQ. We provide the grill, hot coals, baked potato, salad.....you bring your own meat and liquid refreshment. So, you also have to post what kind of meat and drink you would bring to a BBQ like this.! Anything that will fit on my big old grill is fair game, shrimp to steak...whatever you like.
20200804_190016.jpg If you think that's not such a big grill, remember that I have access to four of them! I made one four each of my boys, and one for myself!

So ill be carrying my S&W 66 20210703_160912.jpg
........and my new AK47 automatic
20210711_155454.jpg

In case I need to cut some meat.

I'll be dropping a couple of 1" thick, dry rubbed butterfly pork chops on the grill (Its a family favorite).
I'll have a 6pk of Busch Light (made with Illinois corn) on ice.

Happy hour starts at 4pm, meat goes on the grill at 5pm.

The good thing about a virtual BBQ, is that you're not really mixing alcohol and firearms.

Post your guns and knives, mention your food and drink, don't flame me for mentioning alcohol in a gun thread. Its just for fun!

Not the prettiest gun, but I can do this with it......

Hogue grips.jpg

The FAST 06 goes almost everywhere with me, and the Charge Ti just in case that BBQ beaks down. ;)

Their mouth-watering bacon is reason enough alone to make a stop of you are anywhere near them on Hwy 29!

1919 and/or Sprecher's Root Beer.

So I can have a Kegger, too!

I just put a knockoff law tactical folder on my braced contender. It would be that gun with the 14” 223ai barrel in a handmade cayman belly holster.

The meat would be wild turkey breast cut into 1” cubes and butterflied. Stuffed with a little chunk of colbyjack cheese and 1/2 of a pepperocini pepper then drizzled in a sweet honey barbecue sauce before being wrapped in bacon. Repeat that process a few times and secure them on a skewer. Grill it til the bacon is done.

Sorry I don’t have pictures to share.

If it’s a formal event:

If it’s a show off Rig. This one. A gift from a dear friend.

629. Grasshorn stags. Tyler T grip. Engraved with my name, rank, badge number.

If it’s a we’re also gonna do some shooting.

This one in an old IPSC era Milt Sparks rig. Wilson Master Grade 130. About 1988. Not that flashy, unless you know what it is.

I apologize. I left out food. Thick cut Ribeye (The greatest cut of steak ever). Just salt and pepper. Maybe a little fresh ground horseradish on the side.

Sweet Tea. Real Sweet tea. The way old folks made it. Almost syrupy.

And, a nice Bourbon in the eve. Knob Creek. Buffalo Trace. Nothing to extravagant. Just a little ice.

That PP is just....WoW!

I dont let any of my immaculate blued revolvers anywhere near a holster, let alone actually carry them- egads, the horror! :D

Id have to sling my well-worn .30 Blackhawk cross-draw. My big stainless Redhawk is more blingy, but man is it heavy.......

If the BBQ was in Miami, I guess I could channel Sonny Crockett and strap on my 645 in a smooth Galco Classic shoulder rig-

:)

Well, I have a few "bbq guns" that would do just fine for a Texas style barbecue, but if the host is going to wear a 66, I'll honor his point by wearing my plain-jane 19. I will, though, dress it up with grips and an old Don Hume rig designed by another Texan some of you gentlemen may have heard of.

And as a Californian in Texas, I'll try to atone with a thick prime-grade ribeye and a bottle of George Dickel rye whiskey.

If this BBQ is with a mainly revolver crowd then it's my Ruger Vaquero with it's Bar-S Tru-Ivory grips, along with a DeSantis rig!

In case it's more of a semi-auto crowd, then it's my Colt Combat Commander which shoots as nice as it looks! It would be carried in a vintage Bianchi Askins Avenger holster!

My choice of meat would be to have two 8 oz. Filet Mignons from Butcher Box shipped to your home, just in time to make it out on the grill! If cutlery might be required I would bring along my S&W Survival knife; you know, just in case!

Man, that sounds good! I'll have to try that if I can get a turkey to volunteer for it next spring.

I carry a Glock 19 AIWB plus a Sig 365 in weak hand front pocket.
EDC.jpg

Same combo I carry everywhere under continuously untucked shirt; "fishing" shirts are popular here and importantly cooler than cotton.
I know, my shorts are wrinkled, happens after they are worn for hours walking dogs, going shooting, errands...
Sorry, but I'm carrying concealed at the BBQ, just like everywhere else.
EDC2.jpg

Gun(s):
Custom engraved/tuned Ruger Vaquero (#5105 for basic reference)
Tuned S&W 642 AIWB for backup... just in case the wild things invade...

Probably a rack of pork ribs, rubbed down with my family's secret dry rub. Turns those pork ribs into a meal fit for a king.... first bite will make you forgive me for cheaping out on prime steak.

Drink of choice... water. Gotta stay hydrated in that Texas heat- that, and I'm on a health kick and can't drink alcohol due to a medical condition.

Hmm.
My 'prettiest' rig would be a leather Sam Browne with all the accessories, so, this would probably be the filling
1911A1 Port.jpg
The flap holster would just have to suffice.
For cutlery, it's probably the Boker auto
20210303_164713.jpg
For meat, it will be a mix. As snacks, some quail diablo (quail breast stuffed with a cream cheese stuffed jalapeño and wrapped in bacon) and some Kreuse Market sausage hot links. And a bone-in ribeye, like as not. With a small brisket to feed the rest of y'all--if following Texas tradition and we have a smoker fired up, that is. Whihc would mean "cowboy smoked tater salad casserole" too.

P1010003.jpg
The silver buckle and tip on the belt was on a belt my Mom gave my Dad back in the 40s. He plumb wore it out. The spurs belonged to him too. He bought them from a cowhand back in the 40s
A friend down in Texas made the rig for my Model 27.
The hat was a birthday present when I was 21. I'm 78 now.
Food? BBQ brisket!!
Booze? Probably not. There's liable to be some serious show and tell and shootin' later. 'Sides, I ain't had a drink in about 10 years, but I'm rarin' to go.

@Armored farmer has the grill ready!
(My boy just caught a small mouth bass!)

Dad, bring that big Salmon you smoked yesterday, I’ll grab all my duck medallions and some salted pork from Peterson’s. Some pink salt and brown sugar aught to top that nice!
Little bear grew some sweet bell peppers to stuff with jalapeños he also grew, I’ll have MiniAmazon make some Lemon squares. She is quite the baker lately!
I’ll bring my favorite Leinenkugel Summer Shandy, but I’ll just be drinking tea, since I’ll be carrying this.
index.php

I just got a new 1791 leather holster for it, haven’t gotten to look it over hardly before we came to the lake. I’ll need a new belt too!
Especially after the BBQ!;)

{This space reserved for holstered picture…}

Say, we are shooting later, right?
Whew, good. I don’t want to load these other cases back into the truck…:D

Now, what can I help with?:)

This city boy will use my handy dandy CT grip mounted igniter to light my grill for some fajitas. I'll probably snack on some pork skins while waiting for things to get hot. Might as well bring out my only "show" knife. It marks the 50th anniversary for a local hardware store*. I got the knife as a gift from a boss some 21 years ago.

*And still in business today.

S&W 66-2

Guess I'd probably have to carry 'ol Lucky, my Heritage 357:

full.jpg

In a Triple K holster and cartridge belt combo.

And if not it, then the hybrid 51/61 Navy would ride my left hip, cross draw.

Probably have one of my sheath knives on the belt, too. The one shown above is a Case that I picked up recently and haven't had a chance to carry.

For meat, I'd have a couple of my dad's home-raised NY strips or fillets. More than likely a bit of deer steak to go with them. And when the steaks get done and the shooting's all finished... well, then it's Miller time boys.

Mac

Haven’t had some red hot chicharrones in a long time. Guarantee as of 8pm tonight I’ll have a bag and a cold brew on the deck.

Love summertime but because of all the rain here, 20 inches in the last five weeks, I’m getting a lot of unwanted guests.
This was on the front porch the other night.

Have my S&W pre model 10, shown with period correct holster, loaded with CCI rat shot. Very effective at 5 feet. So far I’m six for eight. Five copperheads and one moccasin. Couldn’t get a clear shot at one copperhead and another bolted under the fence and into the creek before I could slap leather.

I'll just have to carry IWB since I don't have anything that hangs outside my pants. 20210722_192535.jpg
Cheap, china made CRKT (remember when they made decent knives?)

Since I've gone vegan, I'll bring some asparagus and pineapple for the grill, and probably some kinda soy-based water.

Ok, not really. I'll bring my fryer and make up a side of fresh fried catfish and homemade hush puppies. Unless anyone vehemently opposes surf 'n turf? I could run past the neighbor's and pick up a hog, if someone feels like digging a hole.

Still sticking with H2O, but I might bring a thermos of coffee.
