My vote is for th SA. I seem to be able shoot a little better with that type of trigger system. But I do love my Sigs with the DA\SA.

Even though I carry a 1911 C&L. By my bed I keep a S&W 686 so when I'm woken in the night I don't have to worry about a safety, is a round in the chamber or if the hammer is cocked. I want to keep it as simple as I can.

I would get the XD. Have had my XD-9 for about a year and a half. No problems. When I go shooting with some of my glock friends. The are always wanting to shoot my XD. Most say that they would like to get one.

My local indoor range charges $8 per visit. They also have a large sample of loaner guns for use at no charge(just buy their ammo). The safety officer is also willing to go out of his way to help with any problems or questions. The outdoor range is free.

When looking for a 1911 the $$$ your willing to spend and the option that you want will have alot to do with your final decision. I am a big fan of the 70 series Colt, very good out of the box and can be built. Also have enjoyed my Kimbers(both 4" pro models).

I bet the odds are alot better that you end up with a stolen gun, than the government ending up with your gun. I have no problem buying from private parties, but hiding a gun or 2 or 3... from the law is not the main reason for me. Right now I feel we are a long way from that in the U.S.A.

Colt 70 series... good out of the box and makes a great platform for a custom.

I seem to have the same problem. Alway had alot of 7rd & 8rd 1911 mag. About a dozen of both the 20rd &30rd Ar mags. But now with the hi-cap ban gone all my autos seem to be building up a surplus+++ of mags. Need to stop... need money for more guns!!

Usually take a couple hundred for ammo. Have not found many good deals on guns at the shows lately. When the Knob Creek shows come around I will take all I can afford + somemore $. But that is the one place that I can always find thing to buy,have to limit it to only one visit a year.
