Can anybody recommend a .40 S&W Derringer? (something reasonably priced)

I know this caliber will be a firecracker, but I have a G23 and want to keep the same caliber.

I've got a Bond Arms Derringer in 45ACP.
I'm thinking about getting another barrel, maybe 40 S&W.

I suppose the Bond is reasonably priced but it isn't inexpensive.

Bond Arms..........

We have two Bond Arms Derringers at my house.
I have a .45 Colt/.410ga. Texas Defender.
DSW Has a .45acp Texas Defender.
Kinda heavy.
Best Derringer I ever shot, out of several, I've owned.

Prices have gone way up on American Derringers, or at least they were high at the start of the year. Let me find that brochure...

As of 01/01/07, a single action Model 1 in .40 is $605, while a double action DA38 in same is $700. Plus shipping and transfer fee. And the rifling on those things, the lands are twice as wide as the grooves, and the barrels print about 12" apart at 5 yards.

For those prices, you're better off getting a Kahr MK40, which would be only marginally larger, and give you 5+1 shots instead of 2. That's what I did, after discovering how much derringer prices have gone up. You also get polygonal rifling, excellent accuracy, and very controllable recoil. I find that with the same ammo, recoil between my Glock 23 and Kahr MK40 is nearly indistinguishable except for grip width.

The barrels print 12" apart at 5 yards? That's disgraceful at ANY price. For over $600 they'd better be a darn sight closer than that.

That's what you get with ADC, the Bonds are a little better.

Though only because they're heavier. It's the recoil that knocks the shots so far off. Top barrel flips more than the bottom. Just the nature of a double-barreled derringer.

I have been hearing real good things about the MK40 Kahr, it is indeed small and flat. But if my primary was a 23 Glock I most certainly would use a 27 as a BUG. Derringers suck (and I shoot one in Cowboy side matches)for anything except the sexy looks, which doesn't really count much in a gun fight!
