Dear THR
This is a poll to chose the best 9mm workhorse in your opinion. I know I have listed only few, and I have left out many, but this is in reflection of my personal preference and inventory.

Kindly discuss your choices.

Thank you

Personally i like the way Sigs feel in my hands so thats why i chose a Sig. If i ever get a CCW in the liberal area that i livw id carry 45 acp Glocks and likely get a 9 mm one as well to practice as 9 mm chaper than 45. That glock would the be the workhorse.

If I could pick three it would go Glock 17, CZ 75, and USP, in no particular order.

The CZ steel handguns have proven themselves to be work horse firearms with the police and military in many countries.

Name a major military or LE agency that issues CZ's.

CZ's are all but non existant in LE or Military use despite CZ's deceptive claims. Just because they are used in a few 3rd world countries does not mean they are proven workhorses.

P99. If Walther put the kind of marketing effort into their guns as Glock did/does, people would be saying, "What's a Glock? Some sort of German clock?"

Work horse? Gotta vote GLOCK.

Now I hear the new Walther PPQ is an unstoppable beast...

I have to go with the Browning HP. It was the first 9mm HG I fired when I was 7 and every so often I get a chance to go out shooting with my Grandma where I get to use that very pistol.

I think I'm going to start a poll about how many polls you will start before Friday. Just kidding..........mostly.

I think he's in competition with grayhambone

It certainly doesn't mean they aren't.

If you can make it there, you can make it anywhere. Guns get more of a workout in a 3rd world conflict than they do riding around in patrol cars in a big American city. Don't most American law enforcement officers only fire their guns indoors to qualify?

Um Czech police and military for one. I'm sure armoredman can answer that question better.

I shoot a 9mm CZ 75B. Since new, mine has over 50K actual rds throught it and shoots 'better' now than when new--actually true, not bull. There has also been a LOT of dry fire.
Some small parts have broken but were easily and cheaply repaired by me. (Slide Stop, Trigger Spring and an Extractor that I caused to break by ignorance).
I don't "clean" this pistol every time it's shot (275 rds avg/week). I just wipe it down with a rag and re-oil key areas.
I call it a "work-horse", a very reliable work-horse.

You really havent done your homework, if you havent listed the incomparable Walther PPQ....It really is every good thing you've heard...nothing like it out of the box!

If you are looking for a "work horse" I would go with Glock or Ruger, toss up really. They are not the prettiest guns, and not the most accurate, or the best for carry, but they can do just about anything, and they are built like tanks.

The CZ 75 is one of the most cloned guns for a reason. It's awesome. It's also used by many European countries' LEO and military who really probably don't like being called 3rd world "cause they ain't". Plus, it's clones are used in many more places.

The clones, copies and variants by other manufacturers include:
FAMAE FN-750
Norinco NZ-75 [8][9]
CZ-Strakonice CZ-TT
Renato Gamba G90
Tanfoglio TZ-75, T-90 and T-95[8][9]
IMI Jericho 941[9] & Magnum Research Baby Eagle
BUL Cherokee
Baek Du San "백두산권총" (North Korea)
Armscor MAP1 and MAPP1
Military Industry Corporation Marra and Lado
Sphinx Systems Sphinx 2000 and Sphinx 3000 [9][10]
ITM AT-84 AT-88 [9]
Canik55 Piranha, Shark
Sarsilmaz M2000 [9]
JSL(Hereford) Ltd Spitfire
ArmaLite AR-24
Dornaus & Dixon Bren Ten[2]
EAA Witness Elite Gold [11][9]
Springfield P9 [8][9]
Vltor Bren Ten[2]
