Small parts breakage occurs in all gun designs. Many police armorers have replaced too many glock trigger return springs to count on agency pistols.
One group, the ETF of Toronto Police, were stripping their own Glock 17s, down to the last small bit (not being shown by Glock, the how too!) the trigger return spring has to be refitted, shaped like an S they were twisting them, so each time the trigger was pulled, the spring was stressed, twisted. Hence, they broke a bunch.
The BHP, as used by Canadian Military Police, I became an Ex SAS Officer, over night! In training a group of MPs in Petawawa, to pass the IPSC Black Badge course, so they could compete.
But in order to stay on Base, specifically at the OBQ, I had to be an Officer!
With my Brit accent, one of our students invented my status, SAS Major!
Unbeknown to me!
Now these pistols worked great, still had the Magazine disconnect in them, but the magazines were rubbish! The QM would reform them when the lips opened up! Good for 50 rounds!
I asked if they had others in the QM Stores "Hundreds, in wax paper, cosmolined to death" 8AM Second day, hammer out of trunk, I flattened every one.
The QM went purple, (my mythical status SAS Major protected me)
One hour later, 5 magazines each, washed in a vat of light oil, dried, perfect!
They all passed the shoot test, easy. Got their Black Badges.
Last I heard BHP retired from Service by the Brits, Sigs/Glocks, now.
In 2000? The EL AL, and Consular Staff in Toronto went to Glock 17s.
But with 10 round capacity magazines (an other story there!)
