I couldn't help post this video link. It is somewhat OT but can help some who are perhaps still unclear about how socially cut-off some kids can be...

I knew a Russian fellow for a little while. He said that foreigners had better not walk the streets at night in Moscow, or they will get the... you know what beaten out of them. I think that would go doubly so if it was some pudgy American boy prattling on about how great communism is.
Anyway, sounds like a kids acting out because he isn't getting enough attention. Give him five years and he will either shape up and get a life or still be living in your mother's basement.

The 22 yr old graduated from a top notch university on time (4 yrs)and played football. The 27 yr old took 6 years to graduate and took 2 universitys to do it. He has also had alcohol problems.
ADD/ADHD is real. It is treatable. Our family fought the diagnosis because of the stigma. We lost and our youngest son WON because we got him treatment. Our older son has stated that he wishes we had sought treatment for him also.
First hand real life experience here...no hearsay.
So as to not get too far off topic and hijack the thread, they both love to shoot and constantly ask to go to the range. Both are safe gun handlers.

While he's in the heated throes of his diatribe, just look past his head and say, "Whoa, look at the hooters on HER!" and bolt for the door while he's trying to put it all together.

You know, it would be helpful to get his "anti-gunner" opinions directly. Why not have him subscribe to THR and post his opinions and thoughts about guns, gun rights, etc?
The reference to a Columbine shooter mentality or mindset is, unfortunately, apt. There are similarities to be sure. Harris and Klebold should never have had access to firearms. They were too wacko to understand their proper uses and limitations. Juveniles can't be trusted with guns, especially wacko juveniles.

Well the subject of him having a girlfriend popped up a coupla times, and she dumped him because he'd rather play the damn games.
Like stated, my keys to my gun safe are on me or with one of my parents at all time.

I would blame it on the 16 part. Teenagers, all teenagers, are inherently stupid. ALL of us have done, or thought something we wished we never would have when we were teenagers...let him vent and keep telling him the truth.

to distance yourself (and you really need to) is to walk down to the Recruiter, and join up. You will get a job like RIGHT NOW, and if you have no criminal history, you will go almost right away. Sitting around your mom's house unemployed will just lead to trouble for yourself.
You are not helping her or him or yourself at all.
Join up, and you will have lot's more on your mind in a few days than your F'd up brother.
Stop by in a couple of months when you get leave from Basic, and see if he hasn't landed in jail by then.

If he starts to fly off the handle, leave the house. Give him the silent treatment for a few hours or even days, see how he likes that.

hey now that's not always true, while not 16 i am still a "teenager" and i'm dead serious when it comes to firearms safety. not saying that i don't make bad decisions but my bad decisions leave me hungover or cost me some money, when it comes to firearms safety i make no compromises, they are only handled when i am well rested and have a level head.
To the OP, i would guess that he will chill out in a couple years but he probably will never totally agree with what you believe in. either way keep firearms locked up away from him.

When I was a "teenager", I was spending my time shooting and restoring old Civil War guns, same thing now as well, active in the NRA, active in politics, active in 2A. Many teenagers are reckless and stupid, but certainly not others. I am sure most of us here also had a very productive and postive adolescence.

Not to say I'm not a gamer - I totally am. But it's a hobby, not a way of life.
Also, joining the military would be be a good route for you to go as well, if you want an 'out'. I suggest the Marines
