So, would a gp100 be sufficient against 4 attackers in Chicago?

Avoid Chicago. You don't even see the Mayor taking a stroll on the South Side. So, would a gp100 be sufficient against 4 attackers in Chicago?
Perhaps. If 4 people attack you, and you shoot one, don’t the other ones run?
Yes, you could.
Yes, it is.
Hogwash.
I hate to put it quite this way, but this is clearly not your strong suit.
Sorry, but I can come up with no way to answer the question that will not likely be seen as insulting. If you can't counter the question, just say so.
Postal rates, perhaps?Oh man, do tell. Please show me how to calculate a rate with no time passage
In regards to changes in violent crime, that's meaningless from the standpoint that I don't make decisions about anything based on the way things were 30 to 40 years ago, but on the way they are now.
You keep editing out my actual response. You cannot calculate a rate without time passage or a function. A postal rate uses a function.Sorry, but I can come up with no way to answer the question that will not likely be seen as insulting.
Postal rates, perhaps?
Further discussion along that line will not be productive.
TomJ summarized it pretty well:
You said " Please show me how to calculate a rate with no time passage, without a function". I am not aware that anyone has suggested doing so.You keep editing out my actual response. You cannot calculate a rate without time passage or a function. A postal rate uses a function.
Changes in national homicide rates since 1970, or in Europe from the1300s, are clearly irrelevant to the OPs question about handguns today.Perhaps permitting my response will not be useful to you. But it gets to the heart of decision-making around guns

Actually, avoiding any areas in which crime is a problem. police enforcement may be less than effective, prosecution may be less than vigorous, and bail bond policies do not sequester violent persons can be a whole lot more important than deciding between a 1911 and a GP100.I avoid Louisville! Much less Chicago
If 4 people attack you, and you shoot one, don’t the other ones run? Or do they have a firefight with you? What kind of gun is sufficient to have a firefight with 4 attackers?
I will do that in any use of force encounter. If I find myself in a position where I have to face multiple assailants I will use the weapon I have to attempt the extricate myself from the area.
Of course, if I knew that four attackers would be coming for me, I would bring a long gun, and two full-sized fightin’ handguns.
Of course, that is neither the time nor the place for a defensive handgun. Not too long ago groups of teens went to Michigan Avenue, around Water Tower Place and looted stores and attacked people.

That’s called ‘rolling 4 deep’.Take this as one person's experience, but in the "safe" suburban area of Chicago I lived in up until last May I walked into an armed robbery in front of my house with four thugs in the car robbing a middle school aged kid, two shootings over a couple of years conducted by four thugs each time and a car jacking conducted by - you guessed it four thugs. I'm sure this varies by area, but you don't need to be a drug dealer or provide personal protection services in foreign countries to have to defend yourself from multiple attackers.
Do you have some evidence to support this? Three armed attackers is common? Unless you are involved in the narcotics distribution industry, or are employed by personal protection services in Papua New Guinea, I have a hard time believing this.
