HELP: Top Ten Lamest Reasons to Buy Another Handgun

Status
Not open for further replies.
1. I needed another, because 13 handguns is an unlucky number.
2. I had to have the .22 version of the centerfire gun, cause its cheaper to shoot.
3. Because the "no guns allowed" sign on the window is a revolver.
4. In case someone needs to borrow one.
5. If someone askes what they should buy, I can show them a nice assortment.
6. Cause extra magazines are so expensive, might as well buy a duplicate gun for the magazine
7. Cause this one is too powerful to hunt squirrels
8. Its gonna be rare someday
9. Wasnt sure which barrel length I would like, so I bought them both.
10. One for upstairs, one for downstairs

How did I do? Did I win anything?

. I have not been able to find enough firearms, I really like, to zero the gun checking account.

You obviously don't have the old S&W revolver affliction. :D

Saw a few lame reasons of which I am guilty.

"I have brass for that caliber"

That's an "almost." I get a certain amount of .40 S&W brass as "incidental bycatch" when policing my .45ACP & the wife's 9mm. "ALMOST" bought a .40 on a few occasions just because I had the brass. Never pulled the trigger. The 10mm Kurz just never has appealed to me. Gifted a bunch and sold an additional 20 pounds of it.

"I might get a CCW one day"

Until we can get our Sheriff out of office ain't gonna happen. Just the same I bought a 3.5" 3rd Gen S&W 4536 "just in case." (Paid a stupid amount of money for it, too. Worth every penny. ;))

"The wife has one."

OK. Not a big fan of 9mm or plastic guns but I bought the wife a polymer SIG nine. I was so impressed I bought one for myself. Well, that and since I was loading for it anyway...

"Bought it for the wife."

Not really lame. I DID actually buy a 22/45 for the wife. She didn't care for it. She fell in love with a SIG Mosquito and now the 22/45 is mine. Winning! :D

1) NICS checks are running 45 minutes faster today!
2) I just got my CCW and now I don't have to do the !#%&@ NICS check!
3) I know THIS is gonna be the CCW firearm my wife likes.
4) It now comes in Tactical Coyote Brown.
5) My brother hasn't bought one of these yet.
6) Its got 5 (really sharp) tactical picatinny rails!
7) I need something to look good in front of my boss for the next gun buy back.
8) It shoots that brand new cartridge that I can never find on the ammo shelves.
9) I can arm my neighbors with this when the Zombie Apocalypse comes.
10) It will hurt when I shoot it!

Here is one I thought of last night while sorting brass from a recent range trip.

I need a 1911 since I found 3 peices of .45 brass in my pickup bag. Would not want it to go to waste.

the one about the brass that you have and no gun for it hits home. A lot and i do mean alot of 22 250 and 45 70 brass was given to me alongwith the dies, so i had to have something to shoot it in after i reloaded all of it.

Re: #10-

I actually bought a .22LR NAA Revolver that way.

The only conceivable use I have for it is to arm my cat.

What's really silly about that is that it's Single Action, and the Cat has No Thumbs.

How else am I going to disprove that John Woo action shooting stance myth?

(insert "Untouchables" , "Silverado" as needed.)

I still need a 2nd Vaquero because I can't shoot SASS until I get one. (Those are the rules!)

I need one thats more accurate.

Yeah, but this one is stainless!

They only made 10,000 of these!

• My wife has a birthday coming up (I will NEVER hear the end of that one, actually two)

• Obummer just got elected

• My friend's son just got orders to Kodiak, Alaska, and within a couple of years I may go brown bear hunting with him

• Civil War reenacting might be fun

• OOH, SHINY!

• I need one for carry, one for practice

• I need one for carry and two for practice

• It was on sale (works for my wife, why can't it work for me?)

• He made me an offer I couldn't refuse

• I made him an offer he couldn't refuse

Some of us have blued steel disease but also have a case of aintgotnomoneyitus. It it's most rapidly contacted from small children that move into your house.

Also can be contracted by the end of marriage... but that's a less virulent strain that usually lasts a much shorter time.

#10: I used to have one, sold it, and now I miss it...

#9: My buddy had one, and sold it, and I miss shooting it...

#8: I used to want one, and now I found one that I could afford...

#7: I read some article that some random stranger(s) on the internet wrote about it, and now I just *have* to have one

#6: I saw how much abuse it could take in a youtube video.

#5: I heard someone else talking about seeing how much abuse it took on a youtube video...

#4: It's such a low serial number gun that it's just got to be collectible!

#3: I wanted an identical one so that I could shoot matching ones with my
buddies/dad/daughter

#2: I'll give it to my daughter - after I run a few boxes through it to make sure it's good

#1: I had to help out a friend who was low on cash and had this gun...

Sad thing is that I've actually bought guns for reasons 1, 2, 3, 4, 7, and 10. :banghead:

I haven't read a lame reason yet, only rock solid arguments for buying a new gun.

How about 2/3 off annual range membership when you buy a gun? That was my lame reason. Love the gun I chose though.

1. Because if I don't buy it right now, it will be gone tomorrow.

2. I have a holster that will fit it.

3. Bought for the wife (she already has maybe 5 guns that she doesn't know about).

4. Heirloom to pass to my kid after he grows up.

5. Need to buy to "see for myself" if any good (I do this with low-priced guns)

6. You can never have too many Model 10s.

7. I might actually go hiking in bear country some day.

8. The bluing on this one is soooo much better than the one I already own (and then I end up keeping both).

9. Must buy before they stop importing (did this with Makarovs, P64s, CZ82s).

10. This will make the perfect "truck gun"! (just like all the others!)

I stopped by J&G today looking for a holster. Parking lot was full. Store was full. Most were only buying ammo, by the CASE!! One employee told me that it seems to be a post election reaction. Also seemed to be a lot of wives there making sure Bubba bought enough.

1) I bought the ammo so now I need to get a gun for it.
2) I need another field gun to go with my light, medium, and heavy field guns.
3) Price was just to good!
4) Better to have and not need than to need and not have.
5) I believe in gun control. So I need to control another gun.
6) It was all alone by itself on the shelf.
7) It's an investment, not a toy.
8) I need another one to fix up as a hobby.
9) Obama made me do it!
10) Can't get enough of those Suger Crisp!

And to be honest.... the money really was burning a hole in my pocket!

Deaf

could get one because the next guy might not take good care of it.
