I went back and looked at it a bit closer today. It looks to be in good cosmetic shape. There was just the slightest hint of endshake and a little side to side movement in lockup. I know with S&W the side to side is not a big deal. I know nothing about Rossi, however.

The .44 Special is awesome. Buy the Rossi. You will be glad you did. I started with a CA Bulldog. Now, years later, I have a 696 as well, and want a M-24!

But what happens during TEOTWAWKI or SHTF when the only ammo left at the store is .44 special? "Oh woe is me!" you will cry. "I should have bought that Rossi back in 2008!"

I like that. Some folks tell me I should have more ammo of various kinds. Well, I have a goodly supply in various calibers, but if that is gone, now I need a gun to match what I can get.

Phydeaux - I say hold out for a revolver in 45 ACP. Then, you have the gist of it, but without another caliber. There are a million 45 ACP revolvers by S&W & Colt from WWII just floating around at gun shows.

Also, moon clips are a faster way to reload than speedloaders, if that matters to you.
