Greywolf had already established it was a knife, not a pistol, before leaving his house. Your hypothetical is an irrelevant attempt to justify a losing argument.

I doubt anyone here would have left the house, had the old man been wielding a sidearm. But he wasn't.
I'm not justifying a losing argument.
There's not a shred of doubt that the SMART thing to do was stay inside the house.

You stated that you doubt that anyone would have went out if the old man had a firearm....

Which leads to the point I made earlier in this thread:
Greywolf went out in to a situation that he knew nothing about.
Sure he saw a knife in the old man's hands, but he didn't know if the old man had a pistol in his waistband or pocket.

If you look out a window and see what APPEARS to be an unarmed person, does not mean that they are in fact unarmed?
Of course not!
They might have a handgun.
How many of us, here on this forum, APPEAR unarmed while doing out daily activities?

Why take such a foolish risk when there was no urgency to the situation whatsoever?

Trying to justify venturing out to confront a hostile person is the real losing argument.

Yeah, it's the old "Act crazy and wave a knife around to lull you into a false sense of security, then pull a gun" ploy...

As for the other guy with the woman asking for help with a flat tire - COULD YOU AT LEAST HAVE OFFERED TO CALL A TOWING SERVICE for her?

She yells up you're not gonna help me? I said no

There's nothing wrong with being cautious, but some of you come across like complete... I won't say it, I'm just glad none of my neighbors are like you people.

If the OP revisits this thread and PMs me, we'll carry on. Otherwise it seems we've about gotten the good out of this one.
