Aaarrrggg!! I cheated!! A thousand apologies. The gist of the competition was explained to me by Beetle Bailey, so I never bothered to actually read the entire thread for all the rules. Mea culpa.
BamBam,
Thanks for "fessing up" regarding how you shot your targets and the misunderstanding of the rules. However, I don't think what you did was that far outside the rules as described.
1) You did use match targets for practice which is not strictly within the rules of the match.
2) However, practice shots on 'non-match' targets is allowed in this months match. For some past matches "cold and on demand" has been specified in the course of fire description but I did not specify that in this match.
3) You must shoot 10 rounds for a target to count. Your first target with the p220 is incomplete and probably should not be counted.
4) You did not 'cherry pick' the best target to report your original scores so you were within the letter of the rules in terms of firing sequence.
I see several options:
A) D Q you completely. (Seems extremely harsh to me).
B) Accept you 'updated' scores
C) Accept you original scores
Therefore, by the power vested in me as this months Guest Match Coordinator, I believe the right thing is a combination of B and C. I proposed we accept your updated scores for the rimfire targets since you completed both first targets with 10 rounds. But, we will toss your first P220 target and call it 'practice'. Net result is you take a hit on the .22 score but keep the P220 score.
Hopefully this will not cause any heartburn with the other competitors (If it does, let me know). I appreciate your honesty in following up with the error. It is still some damn fine shooting.
