Edward429451 - No problem. This contest is on the honor system. Posting scans is requested but optional.

The name of the game is to have some fun and get out and do some shooting. There are no prizes so what is the point of cheating? Perhaps if we have a prize someday we would need to do more than an honor code but it is working great so far.

Everyone has been scrupulously honest as far as I can tell. It's been great reading the descriptions people post with stories about their misses and flub-ups. What a great group!

Who said that 30 ring was cursed? :banghead:

I brought my Ruger 77/22 in today, with a scope. Warmed it up with 50 rounds or so, adjusted the scope a bit, and went for it.

Decided to try 50, 30, and a miss.

I hit the 50 right off the bat.

I thought about the cursed 30 ring and thought "nah....."

Swing and a miss, high and way left.

Thought about the 30 ring again, thought "It couldn't be..."

Swing and a miss again, low and left.

Sigh.

OK, damage control time. Two pretty easy shots into the 20 ring to bring me up to 80, then a hit on the white to get back down to 75. 6 shots total.

Now, before anyone scoffs at the curse, I want to point out a couple of observations. I was OK accurate with the 50 ring, not as good as most, but still on there.

I did pretty well in the 20, getting the shots pretty near each other.

I was aiming for the -5 for the miss, and I hit that pretty much dead on.

Nowehere was I less accurate than when I was shooting at the 30.

Ok, this looks like fun! Although I don't expect to do very well, I'll print a copy of the target to take with my when I go to shoot my 22/45 for the first time. Since it's my first gun and only the second time I've been shooting anyway, I doubt I'll get a good score, but it never huts to try

Watch out for that +30 ring. Apparently everyone thinks it is cursed.

And Lord Bodak take a completely different target with you and practive first! It helps to shoot 20-30 rounds first to see where your gun is hitting before you try and shoot the match. Then just shoot one target for the match and you are good to go. Good luck.

I printed a couple of 50 ft pistol targets cause that's the closest I've been able to find to a 10 yd one. I'll try them out first... since it'll be my first time out with the pistol I also have a few brands of ammo to try so I will see what the gun likes best before I try this target

I almost had it. I shot at the 50 first and barely nicked the 20. So I had to hit the 50, 10 and a miss....I drilled the 50 then hit the 10 next....whew...all I had to do was hit a miss on purpose.

Low and behold....I can't even hit a miss on purpose...I nicked the ten again.

I got so frustrated, the muffs went flying...So if anyone knows where to buy muffs at a good price.

I know I only had to shoot 3 misses to complete the match, but I didn't do it....I don't expect you guys to count this month for me, but I just had to share it.

Pistol target

Shot the pistol portion of this month's competition. Used my Sig 226, 9mm, with no optics. 3 shots to 75. First was a miss aimed at the 50. Second hit the 50 and third hit the 30.

I'll try the rifle when I can. Tempted to try it with an M-1 Carbine. I haven't decided.

Well... I took the new 22/45 to the range, with some targets, some ammo, and a copy of this target.

Stupidly, I waited til my last magazine to try the target!

Started out ok... fired a miss, then a 10, a 20... another miss, and 2 more 20s. So at 6 shots I had 60, and then I fell apart-- four misses finished off the mag.

But next month I will be back!

I didn't think that I make it this month. I found my Walther CP99 in my garage, so I decided to give it a try. I shot this in my backyard. Sorry, my range only limited to 25'.

I first aimed for 50, but missed and got the -5 instead. The next 3 landed on 20s. The 5th land on -5. I almost panic. I aimed for 3O and got it in the next one. The last one was -5 (interesting... it is harder than I thought to aim for a miss...

Scores for FEB THR match

Thanks to everyone who particapated in the match last month. It was a lot of fun reading the descriptions posted relating your plan of attack and how things sometimes went astray.

There was a pretty good turnout and I hope you will all try the other matches throughout the year.

This months scores showed a six way tie for the top slot in the hangun no-optics class(Listed in no particular order below). It was obvious that the rifle class was more of a challange but Quantrill was able to produce a perfect score with both rifle and handgun - nice shooting! A few people did not finish (DNF) but theyare listed below anyway.

The scores are listed as: #of rounds to complete the 75 points (# misses).
An equal score with additional misses was listed lower than a shooter that had fewer misses.

And....pbhome71 essentially created his own category by using an airgun to get an entry in this month. While not specifically excluded I can't quite list it with the other class scores. I do appreciate the effort so I list it "in a class by himself".

The parenthetical value is the number of misses. I used this to sort names and gave those that had fewer misses a higher placement if two names had the same "score"
