Well, after selling off almost all my handguns (including a G19 and G27) in the past 2 years, I ended up only with a Ruger LCP and an H&K USPc40 V1. I like the H&K, but I realized that I like the simple and efficient design of the Glock better for self-defense purposes. Plus 9mm is the only affordable choice of ammo anymore... So I picked up a brand new G19 with the factory night-sights with the intent to sell my H&K to cover the cost.
I've had it for about a week and took it out to the range twice. The first time was this past Thursday and I let a few friends tag along to shoot a handgun for their first time. About 200 rounds went through the gun on that day. Ammo used was: 50 rds of Blazer 115g FMJ target ammo., 40 rds of Speer Gold-Dot 124g JHP, and another 100 rounds of WWB 115g FMJ. Four different people shot this ammo off.
No FTF, FTE, or anything. Perfect break-in.
Today, however, I took my girlfriend back to the range to use up another box of the Blazer ammo. During the only magazine she attempted to shoot, she gave up half way and said, "Here." I grabbed the gun from her hand and noticed that it wasn't fully chambered. I looked closer and noticed an empty shell was jammed half way into the chamber! I retracted the slide with the magazine still in, removed the empty shell from the chamber area, slid the next round back into the rear of the magazine, and hit the slide release to chamber the round. Fired it. Happened again! This happened 3 times in a row until I removed the magazine and re-inserted it. From then on, it was ok.
Did she/I limp wrist it? I noticed that the aluminum Blazer casings were not flying very far from the gun during both range sessions. Several of them were hitting me right in the head. The Speer and WWB ammo with brass casings weren't as bad, but still didnt go very far. Maybe a few feet to my rear/right. Heck, my Ruger LCP .380 ejects the emptys at least twice as far!
Is something wrong with my gun? Does anyone else experience this? My first G19 didn't do this, but then again I don't really remember all that well.
