Here's my 1076. It's an original police issue gun.

10mm choices

If you want pictures, go to www.eaa.com for the Witness lineup. Basically, unless you have big bucks for a Delta Elite or 1911 custom, your choices are the Glock line or the Witness offerings. I handled the Glock 20, hated the top-heavy balance of the gun and the general feel of an appliance. The full-size steel Witness, which I bought, has the balance and ergonomics that I want for a pistol. The Witness line also offers conversion kits of a new slide, barrel and magazine, for .22 LR, 9x19, 38 Super, 40 S&W and 45 ACP, all of which use the same frame.
The Witness also comes in a polymer-frame line, which is better for smaller hands, and shaves a few ounces off the weight. Both the Glocks and the Witnesses come in shorter barrels and shorter grip models for CCW. If you plan to use the full potential of the 10mm Auto cartridge with full loads from sources like Underwood or your own handloads, consider that the standard barrel length is 4.7 to 5.0 inches. Shorter barrels are going to give you more muzzle blast, and less performance. The energy and recoil of a full house 10mm load is like a heavy-bullet maximum .357 Magnum load. You are not going to enjoy that in a 26 ounce gun.
If you just plan on using Federal 180gr. 'range' ammo, and you want a compact CCW gun, get yourself a 40 S&W and save yourself a lot of expense (for ammunition) and frustration. If you want the maximum power you can get in a factory-cartridge moderate priced autoloader, get a full-size Witness or Glock, whichever gun feels right in your hand.

I wish my phone could handle posting a photo!
I had a 1991 vintage Delta Elite.
Let's use our imagination, shall we?
Now I run a Kimber Eclipse Custom II. Put XS Big Dots (Tritium in front only) on it. Short radius EGW firing pin stop. Still messing with recoil springs, to keep slide from hammering back forward, without sending brass into the next county.
Love it, great round to reload for, couldn't afford it otherwise.

If I wasn't hung up on 1911's and revolvers. I'd seriously consider 10** series S&W's, EAA Witnesses and Glocks. The Witness in particular feels good in the hand, for a double stack mag.

Edarnold, very concise. I agree.
I find the recoil in my 1911 to be marginally less than .357mag (4” GP100). Full house loads in each.
Don't forget the S&W's.

If Glock made a single stack 10mm...actually, I think single stack Glock's in general, could have a market?

SDM^^^^^Your not allowed to play, not with toys like that.LOL Very nice does not come close.

Funny the moniker "SDM", as Scott Mulkerin, of SDM Fabricating, did most of the work on the multi-cal 1911. He thought I was nuts, and feels that a really good 1911 should be either a 10mm OR a .38 Super, but not both.:D All units (slide & barrels) shoot as well as possible, as all were completely fitted. Anyway, thanks for the kind words.

Just heard from a buddy that S&W has announced that they will be adding a 10mm to the M&P lineup later this year. He indicated it was announced a the SHOT show??? Can anyone confirm or deny that? I did a brief internet search, and came up with a few forum posts, but none that seemed to address the specific claim.

Thanks,
PE

I have a G29SF and a new production Colt Delta Elite. I recently put new grips on the Delta (the factory hard rubber grips never did feel very good in my hands, so I got a pair of custom Alumagrips, from GunGrips.net, for it):

Oh man, that is pretty.

I went round and round in my head, Delta - G20 - Delta - G20.....

I finally got the G20SF and it's a great gun. But the Delta is better looking. No bones about it.

How is the chamber support on the Delta? I ask because the Glock's one potential weakness is the small unsupported area at the feed ramp. My G20 is a new one, and this area is minimal, but I would prefer a gun that has a true full-supported chamber.

BTW, thanks for not photographing your Delta on the Back of the Toilet or living-room floor like so many people do. I do not understand people who take a thousand dollar firearm and photograph it on the kitchen table without bothering to pick up the dirty dishes from a week ago...

Wow, Rembrandt! That is a BEAUTIFUL piece. I really like the contours of that slide. Big thumbs up on that one.

This is my second. This one is the new model, but I never had any problems with the old one. Got this one from a fellow member...
