I gotta stop visiting this Thread! I get heart palpitations and the dry mouth just looking at the pictures.

Im running out of Biotene.....

This is part of the collection of one of my best friends who is selling everything. He bought the Krags and several of the 1903's from me 35 years ago so maybe I'll buy them back now. A lot of good memories in his gun room. Most of the old gang is dead now and so he hasn't anyone to share them with anymore since I moved to another state. imagejpg1_zpsa228b7a1.jpg

Wow ! How many K-43 (G-43) 's ?
Not sure, I think I currently have 17 or 18. Got my first one in about 1958.
My hunting rifle - since 1958 - is a G 43, I have used a mismatched one for many years.
Guess I kinda like them.

In 1961 the fellow I got it from was fishing in Big Bear Lake in the PRC and hooked it with his fishing line. At first he thought he had a catfish because it was such a dead weight.

It had a loaded magazine in it and one in the chamber. He replaced the springs, barrel, safety and grips so he could shoot it. In side there is almost no rust and it shoots like any other 1911. I picked it up a couple of years ago because I liked the story behind it. Also I liked it due to the fact that 1911's made at the US arsenal at Springfield are rather rare.

Turk mauser with a pristine bore, good headspace, and a beech stock. 2 out of 3 ain't bad. Picked it up today.

The blonde stocked 03 as well as the all correct and unaltered 1903 Mark I are no longer owned by me, but I wanted to show them anyway...

Both the 1918 Rock Island and the 1918 Springfield have barrel dates of 7-18. Both rifles are in pristine unaltered condition showing very little use. spring5_zpsd171064e.jpg

Whit Walker, you have a wonderful collection. I'm glad you choose to share it with us.

Thanks.
I'm happy that you like the pictures Old Brown Dog! Nearly everything I've owned is gone now to other collectors except for five 1903's that I wanted to keep. I've just one more rifle that I want to buy to even things out in the rifle cabinet and then, honest to gosh this time, I'm going to stop buying 1903's... Really! I mean it this time! Yep... no more for this kid... yessireeee... I'm completely cured of Springfielditis... You can ask my wife!

Mauser Modelo Argentino 1909 Mountain Carbine

My favorite. This rifle is as finely made (maybe more so) than most of tofay's commercial rifles.

Wood is pretty nice, too.

Thanks for sharing the photos of your friend's gun collection. Now that's my idea of one fantastic looking gun room!

I also enjoyed the photos of your M1903 Springfields; one of my favorite military issue bolt action rifles, along with the M1898 Krag-Jorgensen.
