.45&TKD.....yeah I was pissed to find that out myself. Seems different states have different laws but in FL the laws favor pawnbrokers as they "are running a legit business". The other alternative is fighting it in court which means time away from work and possible courts costs. My $250 guitar I found, had to pay $50 for what the guy paid for it and $80 for my laptop which for a $250 guitar and a $400 laptop of course I'm going to pay that to get iy back.:cuss:

Unfortunately my other stuff is not returned or found yet which most of all I want my two American stratocasters back because one I had since 15 and the other is a discontinued pricey model. And I won't hesitat to buy those back if I have to.

Gelgoog....might have been the same, this one I got early 2008, I use to live on gunbroker 'till I bought my house and that made funds redirected but I have only seen one other listed a few months ago and it wasn't in as good as shape and the seller wanted alot for it.

yea it must have been the same one because I stopped buying bolt guns around that same time.

Interesting turn of events today. My Polish Mosin M44 I posted above is no longer stolen it was found by the cops in a pawn store and I indentified it so even though I have to buy it back for what the broker paid out for I am getting it back in undamaged condition.

Good...................I hope the police catch the $#*%(^*&

lionking-You shouldn't have to buy your own things back from a pawn shop if you can prove they were yours. I worked in a place that is similar, but not exactly a pawn shop, and I witnessed several instances of us unknowingly buying stolen items, only to return them to their rightful owners at our expense. I assume that the burden would rest on the theifs for re-paying the pawn shop.

Then again, I do not know for certain as I don't have direct firsthand experience with the issue, and it sounds like you have a pretty clear understanding of your particular situation. Best of luck either way.

Edit: Just saw your post about different state's laws and that probably explains it.

lionking:
Glad that you got it back.

What is a pawnshop owner required to check when he buys somebody's gun, for example in TN - anything?
Do some states require them to enter the action's serial # in a database?

I have only one mil surplus firearm so that makes this exercise fairly easy. Here is my 1944 Inland M-1 carbine. It's a sweet shooting (not to mention accurate) little weapon. I wish these battle implements could tell their stories.

"And The Abomination.....not finished yet, but a target rifle based on a Mosin action. Here it's still just mocked up. Why? Because I can. "

I love it! Great looking stock!
