Jeez, I feel like I showed up late to a pissing contest, after somebody put out a barn fire.

Guess I'll show 'em anyway.....

Keep up the posts I like to see your collection, it gives me good ideas on what to go for next.
I do have a question how does the FN49 compare to the M1 Grand?

how does the FN49 compare to the M1 Grand?

I will chime in since I have both.

The FN49 is the superior weapon for a few reasons.
- easier and friendlier gas system...its very similar to the FN-FAL gas system because the fal was based on it.
-easier to clean, taking apart the garand is not bad if you know how to do it, but it is kind of a pain in the ass.
- guide rod on the M1 garand is prone to damage if you use modern ammunition.
-both have very good sites
- M1 garand can load faster due to its enbloc system, while the FN49 is loaded with chargers and can be topped off.
- FN49 holds 10 rounds and doesnt go PING!!! after 8-rounds letting people know your empty.
-FN49 is lighter

Don't get me wrong the M1 garand is a fantastic weapon, but the FN-49 is the next evolution of the semi-auto service rifle.

iamkris I wasn't asking you to hold back on your photos by no means. What I meant was even if you've already posted up the rifle that someone else was going to post, they should post anyways because the OP still wants to see everyone's. Not just one persons. I didn't meant for you to take it like that man. I apologize I made it sound like that.

I will generally agree with that assessment...plus the FN49 is the father of my favorite battle rifle, the FAL.

Then again, I love my Garands! Between them and the FN49, I take the Garands to the range a lot more.

Oh sure, a week after I sell my Spanish 7mm Mauser in mint condition (after owning it for 35 years) we have a beauty contest. Just my luck.

Here's a few:

SA Garand, '55

Czech 8mm VZ-24 Mauser, '40

damn lionking I love those south american contract mausers . You are a man of fine taste!
+1 for the 1917 and SVT as well.

Damn, LK. That is the prettiest SVT I've seen around. The ones I usually see look older than they actually are, and the price is ridiculous.:)

I'm waiting on two milsurps to come in: an M44 and a Russian Tula SKS.

But for now... Good ol' Mosins:

More of the Tula.

Here is a small sampling, some of my other milsurps are harder to get to so they are not shown.

These aren't mine, but I think there's at least one or two items of interest on this wall of old gunky rifles...
