When I got my first car, I was told to name it. Naming the car reminded me that the car was something to care for and develop a relationship with.

I know a lot of guys really know the personalities of their different pistol choices. My question to you is:

Do any of you name your guns?

I haven't named an inanimate object since I was 5 or 6. I am pretty attached to my stuff without naming it.

That isn't to say that I look down on those who do.

I named the firearms I carried into combat. My M2s were all named Eve, the woman responsible for the downfall of man. It seemed appropriate.

I haven't named any of my personal firearms

Svtruth, please tell me you hunt rabbits with that. It'd just be so ironic.

I was planning on naming mine, decided not to. Now that I'm planning on taking the utilitarian approach (looking at maybe 2-3 models of S&W guns, with multiples of each for different rooms in the home and backup in case one breaks), getting the twins straight would be a nightmare.

I name some of my guns. Examples:

1st 1911 - Samantha
Taurus TCP - Jennifer
1st Mosin Nagant - Natalia
Springfield Armory XD - Georgy (bought it with stimulus check from Bush administration :) )
Baikal double barrel SxS 12 gauge - Mila

Just to name a few :)

If I ever build a pair of matching 1911s--one glistening white, the other a mirror black--I'll name them Ivory and Ebony but for the most part, I don't name inanimate objects aside from computers and that's just so it's easier to recognize where files need to go on a large network.

None of my firearms have names, but some of them do seem to warrant them. My daughter would name them if I let her; she names lots of inanimate things.

utter foolishness

Naming guns is as childish as the babytalk some people use. Like Mossy, Remmy, Winny etc. Shotty is the one that really irks me.:banghead:
